TUTORIAL
CHARACTER MANAGEMENT
INTRO When you first visit the Art Roleplaying Game (ARPG) website at Paperdemon, it may feel a little overwhelming at first. As for myself, I have spent multiple days to analyze it and explore the possibilities, requirements for participation, and its mechanics. It wasn't easy, because I think differently than the majority. It happens quite often. To assist others who may think similarly, I decided to make a no-nonsense tutorial to avoid distraction from what matters to participate. I cannot promise that it is the cure to every unclarity that may affect you, but it can be used as a tool for easier understanding. I try to space it out for people who struggle reading, like myself.

CHARACTER CREATION
NOTE If you are entirely new to Paperdemon, the interface may look a little different, but everything I will show is accessible as described for everyone.
To create a New Character, you can use the panel to the left to find "The Inn" or "My Characters" clicking on these buttons will redirect you to the corresponding pages within the Paperdemon ARPG website. It does not matter which of the buttons you will choose to find the section.

For practice, I'd advise to navigate there, yourself for future purposes. Always feel free to use this tutorial as you see fit, of course.
CREATE A CHARACTER
Once you have navigated to the Create a Character page, you will receive a Pop up within the website that asks you which ARPG you'd like to make a character for. This tutorial is intended for the creation of a PaperDemon character, but if you'd like to join a different one, this is a method to find it as well. Let us assume you choose PaperDemon as the ARPG of your choice.
The guide will give you the rough outlines for the creation, it basically just tells you that PaperDemon is intended for artists who write and draw, an artist can choose to do either, or even both. It does not matter. Both types of artists are welcome. As for the media type, do be warned: the website does not support animated gifs as submissions, neither can a person upload video content, or audio content. Only still images. Transparency is supported!
CREATION REQUIREMENTS
RULES
- You must be the owner or creator
The requirements for a character is that you must be the owner or creator. You cannot use the character that belongs to a different person and use it as your own, you must have given your character their design. This via a purchase (commission) from others (with their agreement), or by your own writing and/or artwork. AI artwork is disallowed and can result in a ban from the ARPG. Artificial Intelligence (AI) artwork is often based on galleries of artists who did NOT give permission for their usage. So, many artists and their supporters are against them.
- Avoid copyright
While Table Top Roleplaying Games (TTRPG) such as Dungeons and Dragons and similar are welcomed, their official species names are copyrighted. That does not mean that the species themselves are entirely unique, and so certain loopholes exist. Rather than writing down "Tieflling" for their species, you could instead name them a "half-demon" or "demon", similarly for other races. Air genasi could instead be named "Air elemental" or "Half air elemental" and so on. Official locations may also be tricky, perhaps the usage of less direct locations and instead using a description of a place can serve you well. This applies to any series on which your character is based on.
- Avoid Sexually explicit or triggering content in your profile image
Mature content is allowed at PaperDemon, but not all people are considered mature audience that access the profiles and see your artwork. It is best to keep both the image and profile clear of seuxally explicit themes. Gore is no different, as profiles cannot be tagged or hidden behind a filter. For more specifics, please refer to the Terms Of Service and Rules of Paperdemon.
REQUIREMENTS
Your character requires only a Name which can be changed at any time at their profile, and a description of their appearance AND/OR an image of their appearance to be submitted. By default, the system will assign you a written template, which you can choose to fill out, or postpone it for next time. That text of the template will function as the character's profile text, or "Player notes". All this can be adjusted at any time! It is enough to use the written template for your character creation.
What cannot easily be adjusted is the profile image, which requires a Character Makeover Kit. It is included in your Starter Kit as a new user. These can be bought with 150 Gold as well. Gold can be earned through participation as a reward in the ARPG.

STARTER KIT New users obtain a free Starter Kit for their first character, that includes a number of premium items. Among them, there is an item that is named an Elementsha, which allows you to change the latent element of your character for when you're unsatisfied with the element that is chosen. You obtain a Junket Tank, which allows you to submit a submission for an unstable or unavailable portal for the moment. As well as you obtain a Bookmark, bookmarks can be used for Biweekly challenge prompts that have already expired. As the name suggests, these challenges are available for two weeks in total. Perhaps you did not make the deadline in time, then this can be used instead.
The price of an Elementsha and Junket Tank is 100 trokens, which can be earned during your participation in Boss battles or in exchange for a real life currency of approximately 10 USD. This indicates a type of rarity. Bookmarks vary in number, but a single bookmark costs 40 trokens which matches approximately the price of 4 USD. Meaning, it is best to handle these with care when you make a decision. They can be earned, but it is not a simple task. 100 trokens equals 10 boss battle submissions, 40 trokens takes 4 submissions. Spending money is entirely optional.
