Autumn Faerie

I don't know what to say about this x3 I'm happy with it. Very happy with it. I spent a total of around 10 hours on the faerie alone, and about 1 hour with the background because it was originally very complex x3; then I got tired and chucked it, slapped on the black and used a PS leaf  brush x3 Hehe.

I hope you all like this too~ This is my Thanksgiving/Harvestfest picture for now. My usual one isn't finished because I got tired of it x3;;

Btw, I really would like crit on this. I know there's some proportioning issues, but I'd like to know what others think ^_^ Constructive is prefered over bashing @_@;

    Alright- part two...

    Attached is a green line crit of how I think the balance should work. The head has been tilted down and towards the veiwer more, and her etended leg has bend straightened. This gives the illusion that she is tring to correct gravity. I made her head large in this, cause it looked very faye that size Smile That's why I'm picking you liked the head- right? Good choice, just needed to pull the proportions out to suit Yes I also suggest a cupping in the hands like she was trying to mould the leaves power.

    In the end though- she is a delicate creature, and you captured that beautifully ^^ Yes, I noticed the photoshop leaf tool XD I use that a bit myself! It great, huh? [thumb8733] I used it here cause I was too lazy to to tree trunk and tree Giggle It worked out very well though ^^ (I also used the grass one too cause I was running out of time) I use to rip at the Paint shop proo ones, but the brush ones are real handy. I have a smal libuary of them now Smile

      Oh wow~ Thank you for all the wonderful crit~ I see what you mean with her being a bit off balanced and stiff x3 that's a big problem with some of the work I tend to do. Your visual aids really helped ^_^ Perhaps one of these days when I have more time I will re-do her~ <3

      And yes ^__^ I love the slightly unsaturated version~ It adds a very nice feel to it.

      I love photoshop brushes x3; I used the grass and leaf ones in my mini comic some time back x3; but it's pretty bad >.> Because I couldn't colour worth anything back then x3; Oh well~
      Yours came out very nicely tho <3 And yay for FMA x3;

    This will be a two part crit. This is part 1

    First thing- you've done a lovley job making this look like parchment. It's very rustic and lovely. A decrease in saturation would do it wonders for an authentic weathered look- I just tried it and it looks alot more traditional looking- if this was what you were going for with the parchment look.

    Now- you wanted crit on her proportions. It's not all about that in this picture- attached to this crit is the red line of what your picture would have looked before you inked it. I'm not sure how human this fairy should look, so I'm not going to say that the undersized face is bad, but the neckis definetly too pushed back. The problems from here aren't proportions as much as she has an ackward position. Granted- she's hovering, but the mind's ee wants to see everything balanced. Perfect balance has half the body on either side of the head- if the body bends, some other part will compensate for it. in this, her body weight has no sence of gravity at all, and she looks tense with her head forward and body twisted. To be continued....
