I don't know why you cropped this and didn't take out the words at the top right, but my suggestion if you want to work in pencil is to work with contrasts- Gaara is a dark person, so he'd do well with a very dark BG. Maybe some solid shadows. The key with pencil is the lighting. If you want to stick with linearts only though, and ink pen is better than pencil lines.

Is this scanned or photographed? I'm assuming scanned. If you get rid of the discolouration by unsaturating the pic and bumping up the levels of the white, you can make your whites white and make it pop out beter Yes

Hmm maybe I should just crop out the words. Solid shadows, how would I do that? Yes its scanned, how would I unsaturate it?

Sorry- when I mean solid, I mean definite shadows- you know? One that is very noticable? Like black or dark grey? You'd unsaturate it in programs like photoshop. What do you scan in?

Oh okay. I scan it into paint. I dont have photoshop but I have GIMP.

Gimp is a good start Yes It should have a saturation tampering setting. Otherwise,if it has colourise- colourise to white or whatever should also work. It's a smaller version of programs like photoshop. I see you got rid of the writing though Smile

HEy- if editing is ever a problem, you can pass it to me to do- it's beter if you can do it yourself though ^^
