DP: Nightly Breeze, Starry Sky

Nightly Breeze, Starry Sky took me about seven hours to complete, from sketch to finished product. It is my first foray into lineless art, using lined art as a base. I've been so satisfied with how it turned out (despite how long it took) that I've decided to continue using this artstyle for the comic that this piece is technically a part of.

The comic is, like a few of my things, a fan comic in the universe of Danny Phantom. It takes place a few years after Phantom Planet. This story is titled Redemption.

Redepmtion is the would-be story of Dark Danny as the unwilling hero. In the premise of Redemption the story takes place after Phantom Planet where the Guys In White somehow gain hold of a reality-altering or simply mind-altering substance or machine. Possibly they have in captivity Ghostwriter, or his Quantum Keyboard, or something similar.

In full knowledge that Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom are one in the same they gain capture of Phantom and proceed to "erase" Danny's existence. Few humans are able to resist this and actually remember that Fenton/Phantom exist. One of these humans is Jazz.

About two to three years down the road after the capture of Phantom and subsequent "erasure" those few humans who weren't affected have either learned to keep their mouths shut or are placed in mental institutions to "silence" them. The GIW have almost effectively seized control of the entire planet by five years. Utilizing their mind-altering/reality-altering susbstance or machine they've somehow convinced the Goverments that they were always in control. A combination of human experimentation and ghostly experimentation now goes on in their halls.

Many humans have tried to rebel, these being the silent unaffected few, but almost always the rebellions get cut off. The Ghost Zone is festering and almost dying. The GIW have crafted new ways to deal with the "ecto-threat" and ghosts have all but hidden themselves in the Zone, locked away in their lairs.

Clockwork's lair is falling apart; what was once an ancient realm of near impossible power has become an unkempt, dirty, and almost condemned clocktower. There are cracks and bloodstains and even Clockwork himself does not look healthy but more sickly. The Time Stream is being poisoned and by extent so is Clockwork.

Clockwork has proposed a solution to the problem to the Observant Council, because he alone now appears to know what exactly has caused this entire degradation of the Ghost Zone and many of the Ghosts themselves. Unfortunately even Clockwork's vision and power is beginning to wane, and so his solution is more of a long-shot.

Utilizing an ancient ritual lost ot the ages but remembered in one of Clockwork's many, many forgotten tomes they bind Dark Danny with shackles of "regret" however for this to work Dark Danny must truly regret. The Observants are wary, but Clockwork is certain that Dark Danny regrets, and so they free and then bind him and Clockwork tells Dark Danny what must be done.

Dark Danny unfortunately doesn't really want to do any of this. He'd rather just be ended and his stain on time be erased, but due to his existence outside the Time Stream Dark Danny is the one ghost who is really the only hope for both humans and ghosts alike. So he's thrust into this unwanted role. he's sent to the Human World with Clockwork and the Observants orders (which are really just pleas, because if Dark Danny helps them its ultimately Dark Danny's choice) and at first he doesn't even try. He mostly just wanders around disguised as a human visiting the sites of Amity Park, or trying to find the familiar in the unfamiliar.

He sees sam, Tucker, and their families first, and then stops by his own where he finds things vastly different. Jack and Maddie no longer work on inventing Ghost Hunting equipment. They've been forced into retirement by the GIW and mostly spend their days doing normal, childless family things. Jazz is no longer welcome in the Fenton household because she kept trying to remind them of Danny to which they never believed he existed.

Dark danny is disturbed and he moves on, but is detected by the GIW. In the end he's "rescued" by Vlad and Jazz and then taken to their "base" with other underground resistance people. Jazz at the time doesn't recognize Dark Danny as he's covered in a black cloak and "disguised".

There's a whole introductory terror phase, and then Dark Danny learns a lot of what's been going on that Clockwork and the Observants didn't tell him (they just told him he's got to "fix" everything) and somehow Dark Danny get's roped into helping this resistance. Eventually they'd uncover where Danny is being kept and would find him and save him, but at a cost, and then the world would be righted somehow and the GIW imprisoned by the Government and other Nations.

In this picture, the man sitting in the three is Dark Danny. In the comic this would take place some time before he was found by the GIW and Jazz and Vlad. I have the first page of the comic itself finished, but that's really all at this point. Just ideas and thoughts and world building....
