Maleficent has always had a thing for powerful birds and when a charming young male appeared in court she was intrigued. The powerful witch although hated by many was also quite sought after by the high and mighty. Her concotions and spells were quite popular among aristocrats and rules, be it to attain love or to enslave their kingdoms. She knew well how to play the game of politics and which youngsters had the potential to become the new kings and queens so when A-Ziz showed up she instantly had a new target.

A-Ziz who travelled the contienents to quench his never ending thirst for power and magic likewise immediately knew the witch was no ordinary stryx, even amog the highest court. Although he was slightly younger he was certain he was equal in strenght as the witch and decided to draw her in. After years of following, sweet-talking and manipulating the best scholars on the continent he had unlocked some of the most potent magic there was. But he wanted more and he found it in the dark, glimmering eyes of Maleficent.

They both had ulterior motives when they met and tried to draw the other in. over weeks they made each other gifts and offered treasures, each thinking they had tricked the other to become infatuated. Neither of them admitting they had fallen for the other's trap.
