Prompt 4: You watch the package. It watches you back. It burps. Draw or write about your character stopping the present mimic! Do they feed it until it goes back to sleep? Do they beat it like a piñata? Do they fistfight it for ruining their holiday plans?
Many react differently to what Käreitär and Stella call "Monster Chests".
Those fake monsters that shapeshift into everyday objects? Yeah, Käreitär isn't unfazed by it.
She heard that a woman had a "Monster Present" inside her home, and she needed some help in ridding it. In Käreitär's experience, killing the mimics reap some certain loot from their insides, and she needed it to be so. The woman "Dominicale" discussed with the fire goddess on how to trap the present mimic.
Käreitär remembered about Stella showing her the existence of "sticky paper", or "paper glue". It's a common trap used for flies and unwanted insects by putting something on the paper as bait, forcing them to get stuck on it and meet their end. If it can be the same for the present mimic, then the two can spend all the time having to torment the poor present monster. But for big creatures, Käreitär needs to make an extremely sticky version, where it will cause the creature severe pain in trying to escape.
But she also needed Dominicale to create weapons to slice the monster clean and open. However, she revealed that she doesn't really have the same mastery as Käreitär's Fire Element, since her Earth Element isn't ready for the concept of "Metallic Elements" or the knowledge of forging custom weapons from just rocks. The goddess remained calm, having a much devious plan in store to compensate the human's lack of Earth mastery.
The two baited the monster with the scent of vanilla extract placed on the paper. They waited until the box suddenly appeared near the sticky paper trap Käreitär made. After waiting for a whole hour or two, it reveals its true colors, jumping on the trap, and lashing out at everywhere. It cannot differentiate between scent and sight, assuming that one scent of candy would mean that candy is visible. It grew tired, until it saw the two women approach with dark silver objects. Dominicale conjured a rock to stand on for safety on one side, and Käreitär stood on the other side, her face darkened with sick delight.
The present monster knew that it was trapped by the scent of vanilla extract, and the "floor mat" it was standing on is made of sticky liquid. It howled and struggled for freedom, frightened by the two women that were going to cut it open. Dominicale turns on the rusty chainsaw in her hand, overheating by the blade to create a deadly molten effect. Käreitär, on the other hand, brandishes the rusty spear with malicious intent for the monster. She wants to cut it clean and open, so whatever it has inside its fragile body would be theirs for the looting.
Thus, the two began to slice the monster in half in unison, with it screaming in cartoonish agony as it suffers excruciating pain from the sudden ambush...
Is it even an ambush when it comes to giving a slow death to their prey? Or does it not matter on whether the execution was slow or swift, as long as the plot was taken by surprise?
After the monster was cut clean and extracted from the sticky trap Käreitär made, its body simply transformed into piles of presents and food. The Aurora Magic it consumed left it, reducing it to nothing but piles of magic snow. The loot Käreitär and Dominicale found was plentiful to share equally between both of them, thus ending their hunt for the winter day.

First Duocast piece featuring LadyDominicale and her self-insert (Is it really a self-insert when your username is the same as your OC?). I said that I would give anyone's OC a secret privilege while abiding by the rules of the ARPG, since I have many ways to approach the collaboration.
Since Dominicale is starting off, I said that I would use the rust as a compensation for her weak Earth Element magic. It would be funnier that way (and accurate) since the levels of Earth Magic (for me) can vary on effectiveness and impact. Also, this isn't the first time I publicly posted the usual grin I often draw for the DEKA-Verse, especially since Käreitär has it in her character art.

Too bad it was Christmas, so I didn't do anything bloody.
As for Lady Dominicale being a self insert, I think the only things that are similar about us is we're both analytical, and both do archery. The name comes from my parents having Lord and Lady in front of their online names. I've had the name for some time and came up with the character in about a day when registering for Paperdemon.
But thanks! It's really fun doing your character though (and trying to make Dominicale not feel useless because science exists, lol)!
