- Origins -

"Hello, are you lost? Fortunate that I've found you. Collecting lost things is a given, when you've wandered the distant horizons of multiple worlds. And I go by just that; 'distant horizon'. Call me Telerand."

The planet he had been born on was a dying one. Its name; lost to time and space. Its people; scattered across systems and verses. Its legacy; an entry point for the dimethir, the dimensional beasts, into Basic Reality.

In fact, the first of such crossover dimethir entered through the well in his backyard, all those years ago. Fleeing pursuit with a bounty on its metaphorical head, it sought refuge in the plain, the Planetary.

It had chosen him as its host. There was nothing particularly remarkable about him; only that society had left him behind as they fled to better planets, escaping the dust and disease and death throes of a wasting world. Defected, rejected - now connected... to a far bigger issue, through this extradimensional being.

He had copiloted with Eksalor for two months, foggy blurs in his memory whenever he tried to recall that time. Eksa got him off-world, releasing him from the fate of the dying planet and giving him a second shot to find his place in the universe. A group called Katelais took him under their wing, collecting refugees from similar situations.

Telerand didn't realize how unwelcome the dimethir were. Eksalor was summarily exposed and expelled, but the consequences of being "dimensionally-tainted" forced Telerand into a sort of exile. Always aligned with the Alloi - the mysterious, the feared, the outsider beings. He hated the label that had been forced on him. He wanted nothing to do with the Alloi, but no one could separate him from the stigma that clung to his name.

A critical accident one day nearly blew his second shot at life. Help came from an unlikely source - indeed, it was a pair of imeigo Alloi wanderers who had found him, brought him to Navi to be fixed up. Months of recovery and months of contemplation followed. All this from a colossal misunderstanding between these groups of beings.

That job offer from the Alloi lab... Katanorias, was it? Perhaps his skills would be good for something there.

-More about Telerand-

Likes collecting information, travelling to different worlds, befriending creatures, and tinkering. He dabbles in a bit of everything - history, astrophysics, ecology, geology, robotics... it's clear when something's caught his interest, because his hands will immediately twitch to grab his tablet for note-taking.

Dislikes unfounded assumptions (whether it's him having to make decisions on shaky evidence, or someone applying judgement to him), disorganization and messiness, and tall females picking him off the ground. That last one might seem a little niche, but the fact that it's happened multiple times with two different people already gives him grounds to form a strong opinion against it.

Unbound curiosity. Perhaps the strongest driving motivation for his ever-wandering soul is the chance to learn more about others. This partially stems from a desire to avoid the circumstances that had triggered his exile after copiloting with Eksa. He had judged on rumors once, by the standards that society had judged him with. Well, he was wrong about the Alloi, and so was society. How many other groups were feared and avoided just because no one understood them well enough? He was going to change that.

Nerves of steel. Much of the right side of his body was damaged in the accident. Navi was able to fix him up, with a prosthetic lower right leg and a partially restored right arm. The blue patch on the right side of his face is a constant reminder that he's not all totally organic anymore, but he's adjusted to use it to his advantage. Most of the time. System crashes, though infrequent, are inconvenient.

Distant disposition. The bit of skull trauma he received from the accident was enough to set back his ability not only to finely control the movements of his limbs, but also to make proper facial expressions. Years of practice have helped him maintain a generally friendly resting countenance, but it takes conscious mental processing to match other emotions with how he displays it. Surprise and disgust are by far the easiest to read; all others require closer attention.

Unpaid intern. This is partly a joke by the Visors and sperikii alike. Though Telerand is training for Visor status (and he certainly has the power to do so, with his time-search abilities), his Planetary origins and youthful appearance don't sell the "mysterious klyptai" image he's been trying to build.

Watching over the delicate balance of Scap and Paiko's tangled threads has drawn him away from his usual exploring, but this Paperverse seems like quite a collection of curious planets, portals, and people. There's much to learn here.

Holy cow farts this is absolutely fantastic, not just either the lore but in the ways that he’s been impaired by his injuries, where I’ve seen a lot of other people give their ocs cool scars and are otherwise unaffected. The way you described this and thought this out in the first place is absolutely amazing!!!

Ahh thank you so much! Telerand is the most pre-developed OC I've brought into the Paperverse so far (despite being created as a result of joining PD haha)

I'm happy you found the lore interesting! I keep discovering new things about him so I'll be dropping more hints as he goes on more adventures ^-^
