J35 Tahlequah’s Plight (Written by me, Sept. 2019)
A mother was mourning The summer of 2018 When her calf didn’t live long enough to be seen. No words can describe the pain she felt, While on her plight, the world dwelt. We could only assume how she felt And as she went on and on, we were dealt, A call to action, a chance to say We can do more, we can help them stay. While she kept on swimming, with her pain, Something the world could not help but retain. For seventeen days and 1000 miles or more, She carried her calf who would never soar.
