Hecate is a massive stryx even for her species. She is powerful and aggressive, snapping at strangers and screeching at friends. It is best to keep your distance from this stryx until you know that she considers you friend, and even then, wait for her to approach you as she may perceive you as a threat. Hecate is protective of what she considers hers, and has claimed a long stretch of shoreline farmland as her territory. She maintains several nests and roosts along this stretch, and patrols it daily. She harbors a deep hatred of the cold.

It is known that she has a handler whose presense she tolerates and even seems to enjoy, but nothing is known about them and they have never been seen upon her back.

Hecate, once she has decided you are friend and once she has decided to approach you of her own will, is actually quite affectionate and generous- if in the "nagging mother hen" manner. If she does not see you eat she will literally throw her catch of the day at you and screech and hiss and bellow until you eat it. And she will watch you eat it until she's certain you cannot eat any more. If something threatens those she trusts and considers friend in her presence, she will react with violent rage and fury and a fierce protectiveness made of talons and beak.
