"Brief" Biography: 

Kestrel comes from a large family of 8 siblings, and is the second oldest among them. He and his siblings, like many others of their kind, have spent all their lives living in forests, usually close to rivers, streams, and any other forms of fresh, flowing water. They have had little to no contact with the outside world or its people. 

According to Draconata tradition, parents must abandon their children shortly after laying the eggs, leaving them to fend for themselves to encourage those strong enough to survive. Thus, those in the "clutch" that hatch first must take on a parental role towards their younger siblings if they wish to ensure everyone lives to adulthood. 

Though Kestrel was the “Second Hatched”, he continued to act carefree, impulsive, and irresponsible even as his younger siblings also hatched and grew. This put much stress on Kestrel’s elder brother, Condor, as he picked up the slack in raising them all, which created instability and tension within the clutch as the two often argued about Kestrel’s duties toward his siblings. 

By the time Kestrel was 13 and all but one of the nymphs had hatched, the constant bickering eventually turned into a massive fight between most of the siblings, and their voices from the shouting match carried over to a group of traveling poachers that happened to be nearby. The clutch was caught by surprise as the poachers ambushed them, and Kestrel was the only one of the hatched who managed to escape by Condor distracting the trappers long enough for him to fly from the danger with the last egg. By the time he felt brave enough to return to the scene, his siblings were gone. 

Kestrel regretted his decision to run ever since, and for 6 years has roamed lands far and wide in search of his lost kin, having to raise his youngest sibling on his own in the process.

Description: Kestrel is 5’8” and has, instead of skin, an outer layer of dark-grey chitin with dark-blue markings that branch off a stripe down his back and appear in segments along his tail, ending in a pincer-like formation. On either end of his mouth are large, light-blue pincers. He has a second, smaller set of arms with singular claws instead of hands. His hands and feet are clawed, and his fingers, toes, claws, tail pincer, and eyelids are light-blue. He has 4 identical gold-tinted wings, and they and his markings glow whenever he uses magic.
