• Promotion at work! (these are good right?)

Well! "May your life be interesting" is a potent curse. My life has been VERY interesting. I have recently accepted a promotion at my work from cashier to 3rd key manager (WOOT!). It comes with an extra $1/hour and an extra 10 hours/week. Which means I am working over 30 hours a week on top of 13hrs of classes. I have NO free time. :/ If I'm not at work or in class I'm desperately trying to catch up on my homework. I'm excited about my new promotion, but it would be nice to have some more free time. Luckily this semester ends the first week of August so I don't have much longer to wait before I get a break.

Good News: My awesome boyfriend bought me a promise ring for our 3 year anniversary!! >^.^< It's BEAUTIFUL! It's a gorgeous sapphire with a diamond on each side on a white gold/titanium/platinum band that is *supposed* to never tarnish. He picked it out himself AND it matches the earrings he bought me last Christmas. He done good! ^.^

On a different note: So I've been thinking about how much I would LOVE to be writing again. I'm thinking about doing NaNoWriMo this year. If you don't know what NaNoWriMo is check out this website: http://www.nanowrimo.org. My only problem is that November is usually REALLY busy for me because of school and finals. So I've been thinking of having my own NaNoWriMo event this August in the break between my Summer and Fall semesters. It seems like it will be fun, though the question is, do I work on my Lioness storyline or do I try to write out one of my other ideas? I've had 724 hits on Lioness (up 19 from June 1) but still no comments or messages encouraging me or anything like that :/ It's going to be a difficult decision, what would ya'll have me do?

Nothin' much else to report. Ya'll have fun!

705 views people! Yeah! I can't even begin to describe to you how excited I am that people have taken an interest in my writing. Although I still don't have much feedback, I'm still stoked about that number. :) Of course, I don't know if it's ten people checking back 70 times or 700 people just looking at it and going somewhere else. But I am excited about it anyway :)

I started a new semester. I'm being silly and taking lots of classes again, but -shrug- I think that's just who I am. >.< I don't think I could take only 12 hours... ever. I'm taking 16. So not much more then the average, but still pretty tough. I'm in class from 8-12 and then again from 130-330. I also have a job now! ^.^ It takes up even more of my free time but having a steady income is definitely nice. I'm a cashier at your average generic dollar store. It's not bad, but I'm definitely glad I'll be getting a teaching certificate. I could never do retail for the rest of my life. I like working with people, but I don't like being on my feet for 8-10 hours a day in a metal building that doesn't have any A/C >.<

I don't have much else to say. I haven't been making much progress on Lioness (wow it really does need a better title doesn't it? Any suggestions?) but I do intend to get back on it sometime soon. I was debating about how I'm going to add the new chapters, since they take place before the already published chapters. I don't know if I can move the chapters around or if I'll have to resubmit the whole story again with the new beginning chapters. Do any of you know? Perhaps I should talk to BogusRed. If you have any suggestions, let me know! :)

    Don't forget to have fun!

  • A New Semester, and Yet Another Delay

    Hello All,

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve submitted anything new and all I can really say is that I’m sorry. >.<

In my last blog I talked about my tendonitis and it’s affect on my writing. Well, the good news is that I’ve been taking some new vitamins that are really good for my wrists. The bad news is that I’m taking Yoga this semester for my physical fitness credit and my professor has a perverse love of any position in which we end up twisted like pretzels and upside down. >.< My wrists aren’t sure if they agree with this treatment or not yet.

The two pieces of Lioness are almost connected. All I have left to write up is a fight scene and why Addy and her sister Zola were separated. Then I can get it all posted. ^.^ However, unfortunately I probably won’t be able to get much work done this semester. Because of the schedule of rotation for my required courses, I’ve somehow ended up taking an ungodly number of hours this semester. I am enrolled in 22 hours, which equals 8 classes. For those of you who don’t know anything about college, the average hours for the full time student are 12, which equals about 4 classes. I’m swiftly running out of free time. L

Some good news on a personal note: I have worked out my schedule and I should graduate with my certification in English Education with minors in Spanish and Psychology in exactly two years.

Also, my boyfriend and I will be celebrating 3 years this May. I love saying that ^.^

If you have any questions about any of my writing, or just want to chat you are welcome to message me. I know some people who are using internet explorer are having problems commenting, but the messaging is working just fine. I feel like a broken record, but Please comment on my submissions or send me a message. It would definitely help keep up my spirits.

I hope everyone is having a good year so far and keeping warm!

  • Tendonitis AND an update on the Lioness storyline

Before I say anything else, I want to assure my readers that YES I have been working on my main story Lioness. I'm working on the backstory of how Addy and Zola got separated and the journey to the city. I've written an amount that is about equal to what I already have posted for Lioness. I just can't post it, because the two halves of my story have not connected yet. >.< That's why you haven't seen any new chapters for awhile, in case you were wondering. (Also, I can't stress to you enough how important recieving comments are to keeping up my self-esteem. I named this blog Stories of the Shy Writer because I love to write, but seldom think I'm good enough. Nothing will inspire me more then any type of comment, good or bad. Just let me know you're reading what I write. DEFINITELY comment if you LIKE what I write.)

Also, quite sadly, because I've been using pens that make me hold my hand at an odd angle, and because my classes have required an extraordinary amount of HANDWRITTEN material -grumble grumble grumble- I've developed tendonitis in my right, and dominant, wrist. In fact, typing this blog is painful, but I figure you guys have a right to know why I'm not writing for awhile and why it's been so long since you've seen something new.

My wrist is starting to hurt again, so I really should wrap this up. I AM writing, but I have to take a break for awhile in order not to overstress my wrist. There IS a lot more material, I just can't post it yet. and finally PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the love of whomever you deam holy PLEASE comment on my writing!

    Painfully,

Bleh! Well, starting off with the topic I introduced in my first entry, I just got out of my Creative Writing class. I almost doubled the size of my story for this week, but it didn't go over quite as well as I hoped it would. I guess I'm just a little bummed. I so very rarely actually get any constructive criticism (or any criticism of any kind) that I guess I'm just not used to dealing with it. The professor wants me to lengthen out my timeline to make it more realistic, which I totally understand now. and a classmate suggested adding some more major events to mark her (my main character) progress in gaining her new, stable identity after a major life event. I think those are both really good ideas, but I just know I won't be able to do them justice before the end of the semester and I was really hoping to get this done in time. Oh well, I guess I'll just do the working version for class then spruce it up over the summer when I actually have time.

I actually read a book yesterday!! I stayed up until 3 a.m. with an 8a.m. class this morning so I've been paying for it all day. But it still made me so happy to actually have read a book! though i have to wonder if my sleeplessness is adding to the bummed feeling from class. I don't think I can work on my story tonight. I have to study for a quiz tomorrow in Spanish. She introduced three new forms for this test so studying is a must. even if I am tired. >.< Wish me luck!

    Have Fun!

Well, as my introductory blog entry, I guess I should introduce myself. It would be the polite thing to do. ^.^

Hello! My real name is (insert name here) But you can call me Moon-Huntress ^.^ I'm in college as an Enlish Education major and I tell you what, that's one major that will DEVOUR your time. I had all these big plans to work on my books and stories and now, I'm just hoping to survive. >.< of course that's kinda what taking 17 hours and working part time will do to you.

Here recently I've been working on a short story for my Creative Writing class and my professor told me last class period that she wants me to submit it to the University's literary journal when I'm done with it. ^^ I can't tell you how excited that made me! I've always always always wanted to be a published author. One of my old friends has recently been published in the past year. I was SO jealous. I have to admit though, I haven't read her book yet >.< Don't tell her that. I just haven't had the time to do any reading for fun. :( my American Literature class has eaten my soul. lol But anyhow, there are no guarantees I'll be published in the journal, but if I am, you'll totally be one of the first to find out! (you referring to anyone who might actually read this)

The title of this entry "23 days and counting" is referencing the fact that I only have 23 days until my semester ends!!! Then I'll be really able to work on my stories ^.^ I can't even explain to you how awesome that sounds! I've been so busy for so long that it'll be strange to be able to do whatever I want for however long I want. That sounds like a dream that'll never get here. That's why I'm counting down. ^.^

Hmmm... That's about all of my exciting news >.< If you read this, go ahead and read what I write and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE comment! I WANT to improve. I NEED to improve. and I don't know HOW or WHERE to improve if I don't get any feedback. I promise you, if you comment on one of my pieces, you'll go down in my book of favorite people forever!

    Have fun!
