Bismuth : For Type Studies: First study -- Water

You walk in, and it seems like one of the Professor's assistants, Claude Linden was scrambling about, juggling various pokemon with a deep black lillipup just barking along the way through it. Seeing you, he exhaled and gave a sharp whistle, which surprisingly put them all at ease. "I apologize, you caught me at a bad time. You're looking for uh..." he paused, taking the paper from you and looking over. "OH! a type study! Why... it's been years! Alright no go, go on ahead here's your pass for the helicopter. Just go ahead and tell me about your research after. Tell me anything notable!" The assistant hurriedly shoved a pass in your hand for a two-way helicopter trip out to Aquathar Falls, the water-covered section of the region, and without much delay, you head on out. 

 

Getting to the heliport, you hop on the water helicopter and climb on in, of course with some guidance from Poppy, as you made your way to Aquathar Falls Mountain.

 

It's not long before you end up seeing the tremendous waterfall in the distance, its height dwarfing what you previously even thought possible for a waterfall. 

 

As you're set down near a river, You and Poppy follow alongside it, hoping to maybe encounter a Lapras you could maybe cross the waterfall on, or some other big water-type that could manage the same task. However, while looking for one, you feel something brush against your leg, and it wasn't Poppy. Looking down, you see a Water-Type Litten rubbing up against you, its usual black and red seemingly having been replaced with a white and blue pattern. Looking up at you with wide eyes, it let out a loud meow, seemingly eying the berries in your pockets. You were planning on using them to bribe a pokemon into ferrying you to the top of the waterfall, however... this litten IS pretty cute.

- Just ignore it and keep walking... maybe it'll go away.. [Pass]

Papers in one hand and Poppy in the other arm, Bismuth walked into the room, a little confused. Was it the right place ? She believed they had followed the instructions correctly. Her gaze lingered on the mess of loud pokemons around, unimpressed, before the professor whistled to quiet them down. Huh. It seemed to be the person she was looking for to complete the study she was hoping to do.

 

She smiled at the sudden excitement in the smaller man as he realized the purpose of her visit.

 

" Got'cha. I'll take notes of what I find. "

The travel went smoothly, even though it proved a little overwhelming. But she figured she'd need to learn to get use to helicopter trips from now on.

 

She put Poppy down, letting the cub lead the way as they started to search the surroundings of the river. 

The atmosphere was quite pleasant here. The waterfall sent clouds of droplets all around, a welcomed thing in the heat of the start of the summer. She closed her eye to bask into the feeling a little, or at least until she was surprised by the soft fur of a water litten brushing against her legs.

 

" You scared me a little there. " She snorted and crouched to pet it and scratch it behind the ears. Satisfied, it meowed and trotted off to return to its own thing.

 

" Let's get back to work Pop'. "

 

The Cubchoo let out a little grunt, agreeing.

You decide to continue beyond the small cat, and went off to continue on your mission: find a pokemon to take you up the falls. The top of the waterfall seems to be the best place to find some powerful pokemon, and that feels like the best solution.

 

At the end of the river, right near the base of the tremendous falls, a large group of massive, transport-worthy pokemon, ones that could easily carry entire families on their back. Speaking of families, a small Water-Type Scorbunny runs by you, then runs across the water as if it was land, hopping onto a massive water type Onix. Grabbing onto the horn, it rode its way around the lake, treating it as if they were basically surfing on it, before coming back to you, splashing you and Poppy with a massive wave.  

 

Once the water settled, the scorbunny stifled a laugh, holding its mouth with its paw, before looking to the Onix and looking at you, completely soaked...

Reaching out its paw, it seems like both of the pokemon are willing to give you a ride as an apology. It may be fun, but they... DID just completely soak your clothes.

Poppy waddled in front of her, giving her indications through various little noises or from pawing at her legs. It was still something she was growing used to, but it did good of filling in a few important information she missed from her blurry vision.

 

Unfortunately, the Cubchoo wasn't fast enough to warn her of the speed freak that ran past them. It surprised her again, and when it came back riding on a huge water onix, the few steps back she took were nowhere near enough to avoid being splashed.

 

" ...Seriously ? " The cyclops groaned, before taking off her vest and trying to wring out the water from it.

" That's going to be a nightmare to take care of. Just imagine the amount of wrinkles once it dries... "

 

Poppy pawed at her leg, indicating no immediate danger. If anything, maybe she was the one perceived as a threat right now, with her irritated tone.

 

She sighed and crouched toward the smaller one to see it better. It didn't meow or purr like the last one, making it harder to identify, but she could sort of see two long ears on that fluffy white head. A scorbunny was the first thing that came to mind eventually. " Look, you help me with this, and I'll call us even. " She nudged her head toward the onix. " After that we can go for a ride with your friend. I'll show you how to do it with real style. " She added with a toothy grin, trying to lighten the mood. It seemed to work, as the bunny excitedly grabbed onto her coat and helped push out the excess water from a sleeve.

The Scorbunny seemed excited to take your offer, and after helping you dry off, you all hop onto the Onix and go for a ride.

Wind in your hair, you manage to take to the waterfall with ease, riding up along the length with the same strength and energy as a Gyarados. Sure, you were getting pretty wet again, but it was hard to complain when essentially on a thrill ride.

Making it to the top, you initially planned to do some exploring up there, but it seemed that the Onix and Scorbunny had other plans. What comes up must come down after all! Doing a U-turn, the Onix takes a leap off the edge of the waterfall, soaring through the air before crashing into the lake below, creating a massive wave. 

Poppy is a bit dazed, and clearly seemed done with the adventure at this point, and requested to the other pokemon to let you two go back to the shoreline. Onix did you one better, though, happily traveling along the riverside all the way back to the helicopter, dropping you all off. 

 

Scorbunny walked off with you, leaping up and hopping on your shoulder and taking a seat. It sounds like they're wanting to come with you after that adventure!
