Chapter 1: It's a Shiny!

When Avi heard of the chiro with a shiny nose she almost didn't believe it; there wasn't a single creature in existence that only had bio-luminescence (or something similar she assumed) concentrated on their nose. Mammals weren't known to have bioluminescence. Period. It made no sense, however, the more she heard stories about this strange creature the more her curiosity got piqued until she finally decided it was time to try and find this strange chiro for herself. She got herself enough supplies for several days' worth of trekking through the mostly forgotten wilderness and set out with her Tyto Horus. Part of her had wanted to bring Nico or Mimi with her but the other part knew better. Those two would likely only end up frightening it; with Horus, there was at least a small chance the chiro would feel a bit more comfortable.

----
It had been two days of nothing but snowstorms since she had set out and honestly, she was starting to regret her life choices. There was always the chance that the stories had been just that: stories. She should have known better than to actually try and go out to find this supposed Rudolph chiro. It was now night and her feathers were beginning to floof up out of a combination of being cold and irritated. Wait...had she seen that rock before?

"I...just..." There were many, many, many words she wanted to say but none of them were very nice. She was now lost, cold, and had no way of figuring out where she was until things calmed down a bit more. She should have known better too. She'd been in these parts for quite a few years now. She knew the drill: snowstorms are bad, bundle up to the point of discomfort in winter, bears should only be taken on if you've got your tokota or stryx with you etc etc. She was about to set up an emergency shelter when she noticed a faint red glow in front of them. Was she dead? Was this death's silly way of trying to get her to go with him? Because if so she wasn't falling for it.

As the glow moved closer she noticed the sound of heavy footfalls(?) in the snow. Death, she decided, probably wouldn't make those sorts of noises.

"Hello?" she called out squinting as she tried to figure out what in the names of the numerous deity's of the region was going on. A trill, high pitched and almost out of the range of human hearing, was the response to the greetings. Welp whatever it was probably wasn't human either. There was a chuffing noise that seemed to prompt Horus to start, rather roughly, headbutting his rider towards the glowing light.

Go. Go. Need go. While Horus certainly wasn't the most eloquent of her flock this was fairly clipped even for him.

"Ok! Ok! I'm going, I'm going!" she said jogging just out of the way of his next headbutt...and right into something warm and extremely fluffy. She slowly looked up to see a chiro...a chiro with a bright, red, glowing, nose. "You do exist..."

You cold. He warm. Offer safe warm and go home. It took a moment for her to translate the broken speech into something slightly more understandable: you're cold, he's warm, and he's offering shelter and apparently his services as an overgrown Rudolph to help her and Horus get home.

"...Does he promise not to eat me in my sleep?" It was doubtful but Morrigan had nearly taken off her hand shortly after hatching.

Horus chirruped and trilled until the Chiro gave a rumbling response. He promise. Ask what bird lady do here. Said we look for him, he laugh.

"Have you been watching us this entire time?" she asked 'Rudolph'. She wasn't sure if her powers would translate her into something more understandable but the mischievous look she got in response said everything. "Not cool dude. Not cool."

She burrowed her way under the, rather warm, chiro quickly falling asleep thanks to the combination of warmth and the tiredness she felt anyway.
