Tears of the Starsong Mountains: The Letter

When I left

the only face I saw

was yours.

Don’t fight.

Don’t rage,

(like I know you will)

The words you whisper pass through

as I watch

the snow that falls to the beach.

Admire the caverns

that we must hide in

to stay alive.

Scars batter me,

and,

blood splatters me,

like ink to a piece of paper.

But I continue

That Wyrm.

 

The letters

that I write

don’t mention the sickness,

chills

loneliness

pain

that I feel on these mountains.

The letters

you write to me

only beg

for me to come back.

But,

my dear,

I won’t until we finish.

 

On the…

bright side,

I’ll have a story for you!

The one you’ve always wanted.

I’ll probably bring you

the fashion

of a fitted genius

and you won’t be mad

anymore.

And…

someday,

when we’re old,

we’ll be able to laugh

and you’ll press your head against mine…

instead of crying

on the starsong mountains.
