Chapter 4: Green Eyes, Blue Eyes

"Black Cat Mage, use Dark Panther Slicing and attack Kaiba's Life Points directly!"

The Mage gave a roaring war cry and rushed across the Rainbow Arch at Kaiba.  He raised his scimitar and, snarling triumphantly as it fell, sent a wave of black energy soaring toward the opposing duelist.

I don't believe it, Yugi thought to himself.  She's actually going to win.

//Don't be too sure,// Yami replied.

"You're done, Kaiba!"

"Wrong again!  Activate Trap Card, Mirror Force!"

"NO!"

"Yes!  Your Magician's attack is reflected right back at it!"

Felix could only watch in stunned horror as her Mage's black energy wave bounced harmlessly off of the Mirror Force and sailed into her Black Cat Magician's chest, shattering him into a thousand holographic pieces.  As if to add insult to injury, the Rainbow Arch also faded and vanished.

"My Mage...  He's..."

"Gone.  And now it's my turn!  You're finished!"  Once again, Kaiba took a card from his deck without bothering to glance at what he drew.  "Blue Eyes, finish her!"

Obediently, the triple-headed dragon roared and opened wide its three mouths.  Energy collected quickly in the hollows, before tri-colored lightning rushes shot across the ring.  Felix was hit full in the chest, skidding backward at least three feet from the force of the impact.  There was a pause, and then her Life Point Meter fell. [Felix's LP: 0.]

For a moment, Felix only stood in shock, frozen.  Her voice gave a few strained gasps, making obvious the fact that she was barely breathing, the wind knocked out of her.  She looked as though she might pass out.  Then came the words in a choked whisper: "...I....  ...I lost."

"No kidding."  Kaiba's holograms disappeared as his Duel Disk deactivated.  He crossed the now-empty square to stand before Felix, and held out his hand.  "My prize."

Felix hung her head.  Wordlessly, she handed over her Locator Card, along with her Effigy to Bast, without looking at Kaiba.  He smirked as he pocketed his spoils, turned, and walked away.  Felix also powered down her Duel Disk and walked forlornly the opposite direction into the crowd.  They barely noticed her as they rushed to cheer on Kaiba's latest victory.
