Chapter 1: The first (and second) day

Ever have one of those days when you wake up next to someone and you expected them to be away...

This would be one of them...

Looking down at him, his arm around my waist (soon resting on my lap as i moved to sit up), i have to smile and muzz his light hair before kissing his forehead. A quick glance at the calendar means he isnt due in work -- nor am i for that matter--.
I missed mornings like this when we could spend them together, sleepily waking up in the daylight, he looks relaxed asleep, something that cannot be seen in the darkness of night before the refresh of sleep grips.
Slowly i lie back down to be eye level with him, just to watch them open and catch hopefully a smile of recognition or a mumur that doesnt scream out 'who the hell are you' or 'mmm Sam'.
I catch the look and smile, it was worth waiting for, before dragging him out of bed and to the shower, the morning routine always has space for a lovers help and nourishment.

Reflecting back on the mornings of such days can only be good, they always make the dinners where i can look across the small table to him and watch him talk all the more special because we decided together and made a delightful mess together.
Cake mix is always more delicious when taken from his neck after a mix fight. Usually it is him that starts it, teasing my lack of skill in the kitchen before i flick something, anything, at him.
His smile as he catches me thinking back to the morning is usually enough to make me cross the distance and kiss him.

The night proves to be just as nice as we settle together, wrapped up in the quilt we woke in. Nothing needs to be said on a day like the one past, i of course lean to kiss him. Not much else needs to be done on a day when we spent the hours together, ready to sleep off the rest of my slugishness.
An arm covers me like before and together we sleep.

The following morning of course he is due in work.

Ever have one of those days where you expect someone to be away and they are.

This morning is one of them...

A note on the pillow, a kiss still vaguely wet on my cheek, the covers beginning to go cold as he closes the door.
All thats left is for me to get out of bed and get ready to welcome him back. Welcome him home, welcome him to dinner, welcome him to bed.
What else is there to do to make him forget his tiresome and -- how to say it..-- destracting day.
