Story Summary

Nicholas Mubai Cruz is not an archeologist... He is a thrill seeker that happened to love books as a child. As a teenager he locked himself in Egypt by loosing (burning) his English passport and gained more knowlege existing and surviving than any tutor could teach him. This collection of shortish events are in no particular order and may feature homosexuality and several sexual references (alongside violence and guns) which has made my conscience put a mature tag on the goings on. Song-fic chapters will be credited, my own will be made clear. Enjoy.

Chapter 3: Falling for a God

Nicholas padded along the rubble that surrounded the base of the sunken pyramidal structure. This one was apparently the remnant of a culture that believed in Anubis when he was still considered the lord of the underworld. The excavation wasn’t as neat as he would have liked and his boots kept making that dissatisfying crunch that was more related to Mayan areas. It was off-putting considering he was meant to be on sand.

The rest of the team held back and let him climb up on ahead. They employed him and he couldn’t have been more enthusiastic when he learnt of the meaning behind the temple. He was only around sixteen years old and full of enthusiasm with a land he’d recently claimed his own.

His clients and allies followed him as far as they dared safely and let him go ahead on his own. He was more than confident in his abilities and hopped from one area to the next with relative ease.

All was going well until he entered an area with a very smooth floor, like an artificial lid of rock made to encase something, much like how certain coffins had between layers. He stepped onto it cautiously and cursed as it gave way underneath him. Nick crashed into rocks on the way down and finally fell where he got covered in dust and minor rock. The force of the breakage caused a minor cave above his hole. The team shouted down to him and he was too dazed to hear a thing.

He came too in darkness, and natural lighting. There must have been vents somewhere so Nick thought as his body was practically numb. He struggled to get to his knees and by the time he got his senses back it was too late to realise there was someone next to him.

He looked to his side to see sandaled feet and forced himself to look up. Seeing Egyptian dress wasn’t that rare in his recently chosen path, it was the jackal head that made him flinch and shuffle till his back was against the wall.

“<You are different Nicholas Mubai Alejandro Cruz. I have saved you. What would you do to live.>” The figures voice seemed to echo from its own throat, while the words were clearly in the oldest tongue Nick knew, and there was no denying that the mouth was real.

“Who-... Inpu?” Nick blinked wide eyed and inched further into the wall as the figure kneeled to look him dead in the eyes.

“<I know you admire me. What would you do for me?>” There was no shadow of a doubt, the jackal was smiling at him. “<Would you become mine? To serve and obey?>”

“w.. why” the boys voice managed to shake out to the pricked, trained, and honed ears.

“<You will not die while you serve me>”

                “how? I mean...”

“<As long as your head is connected to your heart i can turn you back to the land of the living. You will not have to face the trials or Amut. Each time you die you have to spend time with me before i send you back. There will be a time where i claim you for the afterlife and you will have no say in the issue>”

“...” Nicks trembling mouth opened to say something before he closed it again and he nodded “i will serve you Inpu”

“<Anubis please, it suits me better, it makes me more imposing>” Something changed in that voice, almost smug.

Nick was helped to his feet and let out a gasp as he felt a hand on his hip. He cried out as there was a burning from underneath his flesh, a searing white pain that ebbed into a numb throb. He didn’t look as Anubis mentioned something about his mark he instead cried his hands were lifted above his head with his wrists crossed and he leant his head forward as he practically sobbed. He had not felt such pain, and vowed never to again.

Anubis led him to what resembled an embalming table within the space of the ...crypt? before pushing him down face first. His hip burned as it was pressed against the solid surface and he tried to hold in more crying. He felt weak. He was and felt powerless.

He could only bite on his lip as he felt something probing him, his shorts he could only presume were removed as then he felt pain that he hadn’t before. His mind reached a conclusion that was driven by books he read while travelling. His mind screamed that he was being raped and to break free, but the rest of him succumbed to the eventual pleasure and reasoned that he had agreed to this while agreeing to the contract.

Eventually he felt a warm flex and whimpered as finally the intruding object was removed from him. He felt something that resembled someone licking his neck before being redressed and set at where he originally fell.

The rest of his crew eventually reached him as his mind was reeling. Did what happened just happen...

Later in the mirror he saw it was... He ran to the toilet and his stomach purged itself as if it would help. The god he had admired had now become his god

All interpretations of characters used and situations (c) Nolascana, Mitani, RCole

The Anubis featured here is only loosely based off mythology and this is my interpretation to be taken for the sake of a further storyline where he does halt Nicks death every time while he is exploring. Making him practically immortal unless his physical body is destroyed or he is decapitated, whichever comes first.

Should someone take offence at this interpretation please do let me know through a note and we can and will work something out.
