Chapter 2: Lost

Chapter 2: Lost

WC: 1.572

The water felt warm, too warm for any marine creature to feel comfortable. Trellia slowly got back to her senses, her skin felt unusually warm as her blow hole opened and closed again to take in fresh air. Ringing was all she was able to hear, the hot water around her the only thing she was able to feel, eyes shut from being asleep too long, on top of that, being irritated by the summer sun, muscles stiff from not moving for the past two weeks.

It took her a couple of minutes until she felt anything other than the hot water around her. Some more time passed as she felt something that was holding her into place, it felt soft, yet felt itchy at the same time. It felt as if it was embracing her around her neck, pulling on her skin, rubbing against her flippers.

Her body finally allowed her to open up her eyes, they hurt a lot as they were exposed to air and the summer sun for far too long, yet, not being able to look inside the water either as the reflection of the surface was too irritating for her sensitive eyes. Mint colored sleepy and foggy eyes tried to make out what was around her. All she was able to see were white walls made of some sort of rock, the sunny summer sky above her head, two legged beings with white or black temporary skin walking around, seagulls sitting on the rim of walls that held the water in place, behind them some sort of place in which some of the two legged creatures were sitting. On the opposite side was a big wall with some sort of beaching, it seemed to have some water on it but the dolphin was able to see the ground on it. Eyes now traveled around more as they made rest on a human coming closer to her, Trellias mind still cloaked in a thick fog, unable to form any sort of thoughts on the current situation, not able to move her body or hearing anything due to some sort of toxin fogging up her mind and body seemed to have a servier had effect on her, at this point she was just floating on the water surface like seaweed in the current.

The human with the feminin figure was dressed in black as she made her way to the beaching area which Trellia spotted prior, which wouldn't even reach the females knees. The human smoothly dropped her body from the edge of the beaching area into the deeper water in which Trellia was drifting around in. Finally the ringing was getting better resulting in her hearing the beautiful chirps of the birds that were sitting on the trees, the soothing sound of water breaking at the walls of the tank, humans talking in gibberish, dolphins squeaking and clicking as they swam in the warm water in a nearby tub, but not her own daughter. Trellias mind and eyes were still fixed on the human as she was now only a few feet away from her.

She swam up to Trellias front, where her head was strapped onto the floating object, the human placed her weird looking flippers on the flowing object and pushed the White Shark sized dolphin in the direction of the beaching area. It took her a couple of strong pulls and many leg thrusts to manage to move the dolphin to the shallow part of the tank. The human placed her rear on the edge of the deep tank and took out some sort of object. Trellias still under the strong effect of the drugs widened her eyes as the human removed the blood drenched bandage around Trellias flipper, exposing the wound of the flipper that used to be there. Looking at her wound from the corner of her eyes made her realize what had happened before she was placed in this hot water, she has been taken hostage by the humans, they cut off her left pectoral fin, she now understood that she was taken to a place far away from home, a place in which her pod wouldn’t be able to hear her. Trellia tried to move her body in resistment as she was being touched by that tiny and fragile creature she only ever heard bad things about, yet, her body just wouldn't listen to its own host. The Dolphin tried to let out several squeakes to make the human understand to not touch her, but nothing would come out, as if she was mute >>What's happening to me…?<<

>>Leave me alone! Don't touch me! Let me go, please! Where is my daughter? What's going on? My baby, where is she?!<< were just a few things she screamed out of her head as she tried to vocalize them, including several swear and curse words. The adult which was two times bigger as a bottlenose Dolphin was not able to speak out her mind as she would be normally able to do. Finally she managed to get some sort of control over her body back, squirting her body, trying to flap her tail up and down to get away from the human as they had some sort of sticky cream in their hands. Unfortunately her energy left her right away as she moved her body, it was too quick and too much to handle for her body after such a long rest, she was still severely hurt and not capable of surviving without the aliens' help which frightened Trellia as her family and pod was the only thing on her mind at this moment.

After several seconds, not being able to control nor move her own body, there wasn’t anything Trellia was able to do anymore, her muscles weak, her survival instinct suddenly lacking, her mind all over the place and her element not working. She was now completely at the mercy of those things while not knowing if her daughter was even still alive, or around for that matter, maybe they took her to a different place? Maybe they threw her back into the open ocean to die off because she was too small? Warm crystal like tears flew down Trellias warm cheeks as she squirted her eyes tightly in pain imagining what horrible things might have happened to her daughter. The woman waited until the huge dolphin stopped moving around, if you could count judgeling as moving. After spreading the cream evenly around  on her palms she kept talking about something Trellia wasn’t able to understand.

As Trellia pulled herself together she tore her eyes open, her blue eyes piercing through the womans’ eyes. The human flinched back as the dolphins eyes met hers, she felt as if the dolphin was alive, an actual conscious being capable of complex thinking and feeling, her body automatically jerked back out of instinct, feeling a rush of adrenaline through her whole body, telling her to flee and hide, yet she stayed right there, right next to this thing. Still in shock she felt her bones suddenly start aching while her ears experienced a pain that she has never felt before, followed by a loud ringing sound as if an explosion went off near her. It felt like syringes piercing her very bones and ear drums, she tried to cover her ears with her hands, forcefully squeezing them against her head believing it would be of any help. As the dolphin was continuously staring back at her, fast and repeated clicking serenading out of the giant dolphin's melon. This creature just can’t be a dolphin!

Her melon grew quiet, her gaze grew softer, the creatures around the tank grew quiet as well, no chirping dolphins, talking humans, nor singing birds were to be heard, as well as the tanks around the facility, growing as dead silent as her tank. Apparently the sound and pressure waves had an effect on all creatures around her, but not as persistent, intensive and painful as the womans’ since it was completely and solely directed at her. The perched seagulls had already left as it was too much for them to handle, affecting their air sac in an unpleasant way, giving them trouble flying in the first place.

Trellia was looking at the human that had rolled herself in a ball squirming her legs tightly against her body, her muscles still tensed up from the pain she just experienced. Eventually, she as well, softened up as the pain had finally left her body, a few seconds felt like minutes for her. Her body shivering, tears flowing down her chin as she looked back up to that Dolphin. Suddenly several other two legged things rushed onto the shallow side of the tank, checking on the woman as she still sat right in front of that monster. Her teammates dragged her further away from the threat as they tried to even progress what had happened. It took a good amount of minutes for the daily life to regain their voices. Singing birds, chirping dolphins, antsy voices of humans, all these sounds returned one by one.

She learned that humans are flimsy, weak and small minded creatures with an incredible small brain, not kidding you, very tiny little brains…

Her wound exposed to wind, sun and dirt didn’t make her any happier as more pain returned the more hours passed.

Report log #2: July 9th, 6067   7 am, Saturday

‘’We got a message in the middle of the night about a group of uncommonly big dolphins being stuck in a huge fisher net. Due to a required form of the incident that happened we needed to come up with the pods name right away, so we decided on ''Sanhocho'' which translates into 'coral reef'. The names origins comes from a colleague of ours, he pointed out the floral change of Seoul as it has become a ocean of colorful corals which pay homes to an incredible amount of reef fish, and apparently our pod as well, but let's get back to the topic;

The call we received revolved around a group of dolphin looking creatures which had been getting trapped in a huge abandoned fishnet as they were possibly passing through the gulf of mexico. A local fisher boat saw the group dolphins swim into the net and the water moving around in an unnatural manner. He suspected that the critters have been trapped inside the net in which the fisherman called our organisation to help the critters out.

One of our rescue and release ships were nearby the mexico golf releasing a small group of sea lions into the water, so they immediately set sail to the reported area.

As our rescue group was looking for the dolphins, they saw the net which must have been the one the fisherman had talked about. They soon after found the dolphins as they were struggling for their lives, getting caught up into the huge net. The team lifted the net out of the water with their crane revealing that one of the two dolphins was 3 times the size of a  normal dolphin.

Both of them seem to have gotten their body's tightly wrapped with that net. The team was forced to amputate the pectoral fin on the larger dolphin, while amputating parts of the tail from the smaller one. Both of them seem to display the double dorsal which we first found on the Sanhocho pod, so we suspect that those are them.

They are currently both being transported to our facility. End of log.’’
