Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Specter loved the haunted forest. She especially loved being the one ‘haunting’ it. Not much would dare bother her undead corrupted form, and if it did, well she did love a fight. Sorva hadn’t come with her this time, much as the elf also loved the forest. Something about having to repay the farmers that where not so happy with Specter’s art full destruction of their demonic orange fruit.

She had dimmed her glow as low as possible to maximize her stealth, and now was only casting a faint dark red aura on the surrounding area. The fireflies seemed to appreciate this and proceeded to dance in their bright yellow lights, making this particular patch of forest have a rather interesting light for being the dead of night. But they weren’t why specter was lurking here this time.

This time the dark lycan was looking for something specific. Whisps. She quite liked to watch their ghostly forms as they flitted through the branches. Even though they seemed to have an aversion to her, hence the hiding. However she had learned with the recent Rhakos ‘invasion’, that the corrupted ones did like her presence, and would sometimes be drawn to her, though shed yet to convince any to stay. Maybe this time?

Unfortunately for the corrupted stryx, it seemed only normal whisps where about for now, and she watched as a few finally emerged and seemed to play a game of tag through the trees above her. She very carefully turned to track them as the flew in and out of her visual range, the area now lit with the faintest red, mixed with spots of yellow, and luminous blue light. In the distance she heard a pack of anaruq’s howl. But she wasn’t worried about them, they had learned from her many ventures here to stay away from undead angry stryx, so she peacefully watched the whisps until dawn started to show through the trees.
