A Collection: Chapter 1 - Traveling

It all started when she was about to travel for a new mission, delivering a package to the wizard. As Halo was checking her local guild for quests, he slammed the door open. Clearly, he was attempting to look intimidating. She looked at him and studied his features. He had dark, coffee brown hair with blonde undertones, dark, emerald green eyes, and olive skin. He seemed to be human, though whether he hid his features Halo didn't know. Until he walked up to the quest assigner and told them he was registering.

"Name's Darius Nightshade," he told them. "I'm here to sign up for traveling."

The quest assigner nodded and replied, "Of course. What's your species?" They asked as they wrote down his name on a piece of paper.

"Well, I'm an elf," Darius replied. "Sure, I'm low nobility, but I'm willing to travel."

"Is that so?" The quest assigner replied, slightly distantly. "Well, that's good." They wrote Darius's species down. "Okay, you're all set." They looked up and smiled. "Now, you may choose your first mission."

"Can I do that mission? The one to take that package to the wizard?" he asked. Halo froze when he said that, slightly in shock.

"Of course. I'll put you down for that. Just note that someone else has also taken that quest, so you'll have to share the rewards." they replied.

Darius nodded, "Will do." He looked around, trying to spot who hd taken that quest as well. When he noticed Halo with her cowl up hiding her features, he knew who had taken it. He stepped up to her.

"Hey, I'm Darius." he said good-naturedly, holding out his hand. Halo shook it and smiled slightly.

"Name's Halo. So you're taking on the quest with me, I'm assuming?" she replied.

Darius nodded. "Do you have supplies?" he asked. "I... am not prepared." He laughed slightly as he jangled his coin bag slightly. Halo quickly stopped him.

"Never know who might be wanting to steal from a rich boy," she whispered. "Supplies're on me. Let's go."

They went through the marketplace as she got various essentials for Darius. Things like hunting gear, a rapier -after he told her that he used them -, a shield, foodstuffs, etc. 

When she finished buying the gear, they were around 150 coins lighter, if not more.

"Thanks," he finally said, smiling.

"Dont worry about it," Halo replied, turning away. "Come."

He followed her through the city path into the Hallowed Forest.

The forest was bright and sunny right where the path ended. After that, it was all darkness and shadows. Not a hint of color was to be seen but dark green, brown, and black. Darius shivered as he and Halo walked through the forest.

"Is this where the wizard lives?" he asked hesitantly.

"Indeed," Halo replied, leading him to a cracked, mossy tower made of stone and wooden lattices. She knocked on the door, causing a wizened man with a white, wispy beard and dark blue robes, his cowl up.

"Have you brought the package?" he asked, his voice deep.

"Indeed," Halo replied, handing it to him. "Good day, sir."

"Good day."
