Chapter 1: [ PYRO ] Fiery Rivalry

This place sucked, and Pyro wanted to go home. She couldn’t believe she got stuck in a shitty lame mystery dungeon like this; out of all the possibilities why did she have to get the stupid kiddie one!?

Everything was huge around her; a giant stuffed Snorlax leaning against a wall, a paper airplane that she could probably ride was perpetually lazily drifting in the air in wide circles. A tower made of alphabet blocks was a little ways away, like a big skyscraper. The floor was a baby blue carpet, with a huge rug with the pattern of dirt roads, carts plastered on it with Mudsdale carriers. The place was for Baby ‘mon.

The Tepig snorted furiously, flames spitting from her nostrils. The carpet beneath her hooves caught fire before snuffing out quickly under Pyro’s angry stomping hooves.

“Stupid, stupid,” she growled. “I can’t believe she would send me out here…! Couldn’t have sent me anywhere else, huh? Lousy partner….”

“Not for you, huh? Me neither,” came a lazy purr from above her. Pyro snapped her head up, baring her tusks.

“What the hell do you want?!” she snapped, eyes narrowed.

There was a shape obscured by darkness somehow in this almost sterilizingly bright place; they were perched in the depths of a treasure box, lid open slightly. The pokemon was on the lip of the box, staring down at Pyro, before jumping down to join the angry hog.

A litleo grinned lazily at the Guild member, tail flicking and curling behind her. “Hey. What’s up?”

Pyro narrowed her eyes further. Looks like trouble. “Doing my damn job. What’s your problem?”

“Who said I had a problem?” she said, sidling up to the Tepigs side. Her tail curled under Pyro’s chin, and she jerked back, more flames spitting from her nose at another pissed off snort. “Just helping a poor lost soul in this scary mystery dungeon.”

“Scary?” Pyro laughed, stomping forward. The litleo held her ground, even as the pig got close, snout to muzzle with her. “This is baby shit. You’re from a fuckin’ baby dungeon.”

The lion only grinned again. “Yeah. Maybe so. But can you beat a baby ‘mon from a baby dungeon?”

Too fast; the litleo’s claws ran straight across Pyro’s face before she could do anything. Pyro barked in surprise and pain, jerking back, before fire erupted around her mouth. “Why you little—!”

“Too slow,” she teased, the litleo taking off towards the block tower. Pyro was right on her heels, flames licking at her hooves. “Can you catch a baby like me?”

Pyro didn’t respond; too furious to even think of answering. All she saw was red, and a target on the cat’s back she HAD to get. She couldn’t let this random pokemon get the better of her!

The litleo easily scaled the block tower, nimbly leaping up, claws hooking into the wood and spaces between the blocks. She got to the top, sitting and curling her tail around her paws. “Think you can get me up here?” she teased, whiskers twitching in amusement.

Pyro grinned manically. “Easily.”

She backed up, lowering her head. Snorting, Pyro scraped at the ground—before running forward with all her might. She slammed into the tower, and the blocks wobbled dangerously. The litleo scrambled to stick her claws into the wood, stability suddenly gone beneath her. “Hey—Cut that out!”

“You gave the challenge,” Pyro said, backing up again. “So I’m gonna beat you, no matter what it takes!”

She rammed into the tower again, and that’s all it needed; it completely collapsed, taking the litleo down with it. She yowled as she fell through the air, dodging falling blocks. Pyro laughed as she ran away, a huge B shaking the floor as it fell behind her. As soon as the dust settled, the Tepig trotted forward confidently.

“Givin’ up yet?” she huffed proudly. “Can’t beat me, kitty.”

The litleo got to her paws, rattled and on shaky legs. “You’re crazy.”

“I won though,” she said, getting into the litleo’s face again. “And you’re still a baby in the baby dungeon.”

“…. You lookin’ for a new teammate?” she spoke up, shaking her fur out. She held out a paw to Pyro. “Truce, if ya take me outta this place and let me join ya.”

Pyro eyed her paw, thoughtfully looking the litleo up and down. She had spunk, that was for sure; and it WAS fun chasing her around…. Eh, she could deal with her partner’s attitude later.

She slapped her hoof into the litleo’s paw, shaking it. “You got yourself a deal, cat! Welcome to the team!”
