Chapter 1: The Breezy Meadow

I got off the train, waving a thanks with my tail at the driver. He nodded back, and the train moved on to another location.

The initial wind buffeted me quite a bit, and I had to use my tail to keep a hold on my trusty beanie. Unfortunately, my singular limb wasn’t enough, and my hat whooshed off of my head, and started sailing away in the wind!

I started to panic, as that hat was one of the most important objects I own! I dashed after it on my stubby legs, slowly losing sight of it. Eventually, I ran out of breath, and stopped, watching somberly as my hat drifted away in the distance.

Although very upset and sad, I decided to continue my adventure. I walked by a group of Bulbasaur, who were eating an assortment of veggies from their picnic basket.

Being a Wooper, my hearing was very sharp, and I heard scuttling noises. I swiveled my gilled head towards the unknown sounds, and spotted a whole gang of Caterpie slowly stealing the Grass type’s tasty food. I dashed towards the unsuspecting Bug types.

Not wanting to bring attention to them, I looked around for a tree, which were scarce in this area. I finally saw one with some tasty citrus growing on it. I prodded one of the Caterpies with my tail, then nudged it towards the tree, which had much better food on it. The Caterpies squeaked happily, and went dashing towards the tree.

It’s surprising how fast they are, she thought.

Once that issue was resolved, I went to a nearby creak, which was making some odd bubbling noises. Upon closer inspection, I saw that there were Wishiwashi swimming in the lake. A small group of them dashed by, not having a care in the world.

I smiled, looking at the content fish before barely registering what happened next. A flap of wings, and a call of a bird, before a gust of air from right next to me. A Tailow.

The bird warbled, and cocked its head.  I held up my tail, showing that I was friendly and not willing to attack. The Tailow hopped over to the creek before sticking its beak in the water, drinking it.

I smiled, I have always had a soft spot for birds. The Tailow became more interested in me, and started hopping to my side. I pet them with my tail. Their stomach rumbled, very loud for such a small bird. Then I remembered I had berries in my scarf.

I took one out and placed it on the ground, the bird chirping happily. It quickly ate the Oran Berry, and made another happy sound.

“Happy to help,” I said. Satisfied, I made my way back to the train station, happy that I had helped another Pokemon. A chirp came from behind me. I turned around, and the Tailow was following me! I slowed down to their pace, and thought of a name for them.

“Hmmm, Tailow’s tails look a lot like arrows, so that will be your name!” I named them, looking at Arrow with a smile. The bird was smiling back, as much as you could grin with a beak.

As we approached the station, I heard another whoosh of strong wind. I instinctively held on to my hat, before realizing my hat was gone. I sighed at the thought. Suddenly, Arrow warbled, and launched into the air.

I watched them as they flew away, sadness gripping my heart. I had really liked the Tailow, and now they were gon-

Arrow landed in front of me with a chirp, and in their beak was none other than my purple beanie! I exclaimed with excitement, as the bird gently placed it on my head. I hugged them with my tail, before hearing the familiar noise of the train.

We boarded the train, and I looked at Arrow once more as the engine started and we were off. I saw the Breezy Meadow passing by.

I’ll be sure to visit you again soon, I promised.
