Last Thanksgiving

Posted Dec 3, 2008, 12:49:00 PM UTC

This was the last Thanksgiving for my friend's grandmother. The actual photo was taken in 2007. Her grandmother passed away in November 2008. This is to remember her.

wow you took my critique to the next level. Now this is an amazing piece there is an equality if not that then the Grandmother is the subject matter, thank you for sharing with us.. and I am sorry to your friend, it is tough, work through it thats what our loved one's want right? <3

Thank you. I just need to update to the finished piece and it'll be done. This was challenging because I'd never done more than two people in a picture before. Getting faces correct is tough. But I'm glad it came out okay.

It came out better than ok! You know from a thumnail it looks like a photo you have a great amount of talent in shading <3

Thanks. Hmmm...I guess you're right. I does resemble a photo as a thumbnail. I'm getting better at faces. Trying to make them look like a photo is still a challenge.

They look like a happy bunch of people. The joie de vivre is nicely captured here. It must have been a memorable Thanksgiving.

The fondness of memory of our loved ones is the mercy we have been given to counterbalance grief.

I was told it was, especially since the grandmother had alzheimer's and couldn't remember anybody's name. But that one Thanksgiving, she said her granddaughter's name several times. That memory alone is probably so great to have.

I think it's very good but it's lacking a lot of shading, and since it's for the Grandmother I think she should have a lot more detail to her, it's a great piece but since it's meant to be for a powerful emotion I'd emphasize the grandmother more.

    Great work.
