Foxfire was perhaps particularly vulnerable to Queen Vespa's pheromone attack

 She's always been a bit lonely, a refugee who grew up  largely surrounded by other types of pony and never being sure how many  others might secretly be like her, and not able to remember much of her  original family or what happened to them made her vulnerable to a sense  of being alone and hungry for a sense of connection. It also made her  seek out the knights, though she hadn't yet decided on a branch to study  with, just for a sense of camaraderie. 

Perhaps in the future she'll join search and rescue...  depending how things go. Perhaps she'll simply do as ordered and join  the hive.
