I do see what you were going for with the lines now that you mention that, but I feel his distinct patterns and the glowing red portions already draw the eye- even though the polar aqrion is paler, Ronald was what had most of my attention. Playing up the glowing parts and his inquisitive eyes work very well towards those ends, so I wouldn't worry about him getting overlooked
