Super Fandom Gallery Removed
That's right. I killed it. I killed the Super Fandom Gallery in the Art section. X-P It's dead, Jim.Some of the members and I had a discussion about it and we decided it needed to be killed. Why? Because about 95% of the artwork in that gallery wasn't even Super Fandom. I suppose this is because no one even knew what it was. Even though it said right there what it was. For those that don't know, Super Fandom is any artwork that is based off of a fanfic. Another reason for nixing it is because it was such a specific thing that it didn't seem necessary to have a whole section just for it.
In the future, if this site gains more fanfiction, I may create a new system similar to that on Media Minor in which you can designate artwork as being based off of a specific fanfic located on the site. That way when you are viewing a fanfic, it will say "View artwork based on this Story" as well as when you view the artwork it will say "Read the story this artwork is based on." But at this time I don't see enough need. If you would like to see something like that here and would actually make use of it, please let me know. Perhaps there is more want for this than I thought. It will only work with fanfics and artwork located on THIS website. Meaning, if you did an art piece based on a fanfic located on fanfiction.net, you won't be able to link them up with this proposed new system. If you are a person who writes and draws the characters or scenes in your stories, this would be a great feature for you. It doesn't have to be fanart or fanction by the way for this new feature. It would just have to be artwork and writing that is some how related.
Multiple artists and authors pages improved
For those of you that have ever tried to add a second artist or author to an artwork/writing, you know how cumbersome the page was to credit other artists/authors. It listed EVERY single member (over 800!!!) on the site and it wasn't even in alphabetical order. How crazy is that?! Well thanks to the nudging of [user937] I have gone through and completely revamped the page where you add and remove artists and authors.
Now, it will show a list of your buddies. Most people I think will be doing collabs with people they know. So for convenience, it will show your buds list in alphabetical order so that you can select one or more to credit them for the work.
If the member you need to credit is not in your buddy list, you can simply do a search for their username and then add them that way. It works very similarly to the new Private Messaging system.
Let me know what you think of the changes.
New convenient Request a Gallery/Library thing-a-ma-jig
I know there are a lot of people choosing Other Fanfiction and Other Fanart because there isn't a gallery made available for the anime/show their work is based off of. Most people may not know that they can request a new gallery. So I've added a link right on the Gallery/Library editing pages so that you can quickly request a gallery. It opens up in a little pop up for convenience. Please request a new gallery if the one you need isn't available. I'd rather have the "Other Fanart" and "Other Fanfiction" sections empty.
For those of you that do have artwork under Other Fanart and Other Fanfiction, please go through all of your work in those sections and request the appropriate gallery for it and I'll create it for you when you get the chance.
Hiatus Over?
Well I guess since I've been updating the site that means my Hiatus is over. But I will be very busy this weekend with homework. starting tuesday I can get back into my work on the premium account stuff and start making those availlable within a few weeks.
