March Event Part 2: Catching Lightning 

The storm in Canterlot was intensifying. It was clear to everypony at this point that this was not a natural storm, but one deliberately sent with malicious intent. Dawn Bringer flew like a bright firework into the clouds to battle it back, while unicorns from the Canterlot School of Magic sent spells from below.. Her light was nearly swallowed in the dark plumes, but the storm stopped its progression. 

Back in Ponyville, the raiders were surprised at the resistance they faced. Ponyville of their memory and the stories from their elders was a peaceful place unused to conflict. Some raiders fell back a bit, like a coyote might when watching an injured animal. Others met the fighting with force of their own, but little progress was made. The supplies were not leaving the ground as they had intended. 

Lightning flashed bright above both locations. Accompanied by claps of thunder, lightning struck the streets. Two bolts struck in Canterlot and Ponyville each, leaving scorch marks on the earth and looming figures among the smoke. Out stepped ponies with fur that crackled with electricity. One flew up and swept their wings at the Canterlot mages. A huge gust of wind flew from their feathers and sent the mages tumbling into walls and gutters. The other in Canterlot, a changeling, buzzed above the rooftops, somehow throwing down shocking bolts toward solidary mages around the city. Ponyville didn’t fare much better. A bat and changeling hybrid soared around the buildings, spreading mist in their wake. The last figure, a pegasus, wasted no time charging the nearest defenders, lighting sparking from her hooves each time they touched the ground. Raiders started to focus their efforts on taking the supplies once again in the wake of reinforcements. This wasn’t over, not even close.

Prompt: Four strange ponies have appeared with very strange abilities! They are dangerous! If they aren’t stopped, though, Ponyville may be ransacked and Canterlot overwhelmed by the storm.

You may create pieces from any point during the action chains OR outside of them if you want your character to play a supporting role (helping those in need, getting others to shelter, etc.).
