March Event: Celebration of Friendship

Equestria settled back into tenuous calm. Normal winter weather was on the brink of fading and many were preparing for the incoming spring. Train travel stabilized quickly after the wild magic induced snowstorms cleared and the Foresters continued to guide everypony in the cities where they settled themselves. The success of this unusual cooperation had not gone unnoticed. In fact, a pattern was emerging for some to the realm’s success. It should not have been a surprise, for it was a tenant held long ago and used with great success then as well by Princess Twilight Sparkle herself.

Ponyville’s very own School of Friendship brought themselves to the forefront. They announced that it was no accident so many problems of late had been solved through cooperation. To further this progress in the power of Friendship, the school announced it was reopening its doors to the public. While times were hard and resources short, the school could no longer justify its closure when it was clear Friendship was so critical to all of Equestria. They welcomed anyone to their halls with open arms.

In celebration of this reopening, they decided to hold a large event on the school’s grounds. Merchants and cooks attended with wares and food, tours were offered to all prospective students, and games promoting friendship were held across the campus. If nothing else, the School of Friendship wanted to make it clear to Equestria that it was here as a beacon of hope moving forward. They had seen what Friendship could do, so why not grow those bonds even further?

Event Prompt: Show your character getting a tour of the School of Friendship, regardless of whether they actually want to join.

The School of Friendship is now open again! This school, however, offers no mechanical differences to characters, so feel free to interact with it at your leisure. Characters are welcome to be students, teachers, or staff at will.

Friendship Games

The School of Friendship is offering a host of games to celebrate and promote the ideals of Friendship and the school.

In this game, you will team up with another player and complete an art trade. Each player will create a piece depicting their own character and the other player’s character working together in one of the sponsored games.

Any player who completes one of these pieces will get 50 additional HS. Any PAIR of players who complete this game will get 100 additional HS and a random item each instead.

The Games:

Six-Legged Race (Potato Sack Race)

• Characters put 2 of their legs in two potato sacks and try to race as a single “6-legged” unit.

Blindfolded Maze

• One character wears a blindfold and tries to navigate a hedge maze, while the other character gives directions from a platform.

Egg Relay Race

• Characters try to get an egg from one side of the field to the other using spoons. Only the character not holding the egg can move and they can only hold the egg with the spoons. The egg must be unbroken at the end.

Tower Stack

• Characters try to build the tallest tower with oversized wooden blocks without it falling.

February Game Part 1: How I Met Your Mother

(Please note that the title is just meant to be a fun riff on a popular show, gender is not actually fixed in this game)

In a moment of peace, a family of ponies sat at their breakfast table eating pancakes. A foal at the table was chewing thoughtfully, syrup smeared on their face.

“What’s on your mind?” Asked one of the adults.

“It’s almost Hearts and Hooves day…how did you two meet? You never told me,” said the foal.

The two adults exchanged looks. They certainly didn’t look like a typical couple.

“Well you see, it was something like this…”

In this game you will be designing one part of a couple…the catch being you don’t know who is the other part of the pairing!

The Game

Players have until February 17th at 11:59PM to enter an adult character concept! At this time, each Player who has entered a character will be randomly matched with another character to create a couple! The designer of each character will receive a SweetHeart Train Ticket to create that character and these couples will be used for Part 2 of this game.

Rules: 

• You may only use released species. (What species you have unlocked does not matter)
• You cannot enter hybrids.
• The character must be an adult.
• Gender identity does not matter, but keep in mind that you don’t get to pick their partner.
• You can enter as many characters as you want, only one will be used per Player.
• You do NOT have to keep the character, but you cannot sell them. Gifts and trades are fine.

New to Tales from Equestria? Comment on this blog to get your starting items: Two Train Tickets OR a single First-Class Train Ticket!

When you redeem a regular Train Ticket, you will get a randomly generated Genetic Profile and a Random Color Hex Code. The Genetic Profile determines what markings, characteristics, and mutations you can use in your design. The Random Color Hex Code is a color that has to be used somewhere in the design. Doesn’t matter where!

When you redeem a First-Class Train Ticket, you get to build your character’s genetic profile from scratch! This means you can custom build a character with any common species or higher rarity species you have unlocked. There is no limit to how many markings, characteristics, or mutations your character can have.

If you do no specify which option you'd like, we will deposit 2 Train Tickets into your inventory by default.

October Event: Nightmare Night Fun!

The Harvest Festival was a huge success. Creatures from far and wide enjoyed the food and games. More importantly, everypony enjoyed the peace. For the first time in a while, foals slept easily, families were relaxed, and the guards and knights could rest. It was a reward well deserved and much needed.

With the harvest ending, the weather began to cool. While the farmers were winding down from all their hard work, children were preparing for the upcoming delights of Nightmare Night. Some of the adults were less enthusiastic about the upcoming holiday. Some whispered of tempting fate and the monsters infected with wild magic. Others, however, were happy to support the imaginations of the children. One family farm turned their recently harvested corn field into a maze! They opened it up to the public, encouraging others to also help young and old celebrate Nightmare Night in the ways they were comfortable.  It wasn’t as official as the Harvest Festival, but small corners of Ponyville embraced the holiday.

Prompt: Show your character exploring the corn maze! What time of day do they go? Do they get lost or find their way though? Who knows what your character might find!
