    Refugee Center - Adoptables

It is not uncommon for refugees of the destruction of Wild Magic to come into Equestria. These refugees need support and guidance. The Refugee Center in Ponyville offers temporary shelter and supplies. It also acts as a hub for ponies who wish to volunteer to help incoming refugees.

Once a month, all Players may roll two refugees. Additional refugee rolls can be unlocked as player bonuses. These refugees are randomly generated genetic profiles much like those rolled by standard Train Tickets. These refugees are designed by the player. Afterwards, the player has the following options:

    • Keep 1 refugee.
    • Sell any number of refugees. Payment may be taken in USD, Horseshoes (HS), art, characters, items, or off-site currency. NOTE: If taking USD, you MUST state ahead of time what platform you'd be using for payment.
    • Give away any number of refugees. This can be done as gifts or contests.

All refugees come with a VIP Ticket that allows them to be created as characters within the group instantly.

To receive a roll for refugees, post the following:

I’d like to roll for [number] refugees please. I have unlocked [uncommon/rare/no additional] species.

    Refugee Pets

Sometimes animals come in from the wilds and wish to stay with pony companions.

Once a month, Players may roll one refugee pet. Additional refugee pet rolls can be unlocked as a player bonus. You will be given a random animal and pet type, but Players get to design the pet itself. Players then have the following options:

    • Keep 1 refugee pet.
    • Sell any number of refugee pets. Payment may be taken in USD, Horseshoes (HS), art, characters, items, or off-site currency. NOTE: If taking USD, you MUST state ahead of time what platform you'd be using for payment.
    • Give away any number of refugee pets. This can be done as gifts or contests.

All refugee pets come with a VIP Pet Voucher that allows them to be created as pets within the group instantly.

To receive a roll for a refugee pet, post the following:

I’d like to roll for [number] refugee pets please.

Ponies across Equestria had different reactions to the flyers announcing Professor Golden Sage's research. Some were confused or curious, while others were horrified or even angry. The outrage did not go unnoticed by like-minded parties. Ponies who showed any displeasure toward the flyers would soon find letters at their residence with the seal of the Canterlot School of Magic. Inside was an invitation to join a meeting discussing how to minimize the dangers presented by this new development. While the letter was carefully worded and precise, the intent was unmistakable; someone needed to investigate and even stop this risky research.

If your character seeks out Professor Golden Sage...

Professor Golden Sage meets with all interested ponies on the edge of Ponyville in her personal lab. The small building is filled to the brim with magic artifacts, specimens, bubbling potions, and old scripts. Professor Golden Sage yellow and white earth pony and unicorn hybrid based on the ridge running down her back and her curved horn. Despite the ominous promise of the topic of Wild Magic, the professor is friendly, cheerful, and relaxed.

“Welcome! I am Professor Golden Sage. I teach here at the School of Friendship in Ponyville, or at least I used to when it was open. It’s so focused now on maintaining Ponyville’s borders there isn’t a whole lot of learning going on…” She clicks her tongue in disappointment before offering her visitor tea. “I have taken it upon myself to study the influx of Natural Magic…Wild Magic…in recent years.”

“It’s not really a new phenomenon,” She explained. “There are records of Natural Magic far back in the history books and folklore. We can’t base our current understanding on such old information, though. We need to do our own research. That is, I hope, where you might be able to help me. I’m only one pony and I’ll admit…my colleagues have not been thrilled with my intellectual pursuits.”

“I understand Natural Magic has posed a threat to many, but I do not believe it evil. That is a small-minded notion. Lightning storms, hurricanes, are these evil? No, they are forces with great power and destructive potential, to be sure, but not ill intent. If Natural Magic has come to our world to stay, we need to better understand it so we can better live alongside it…perhaps even harness it.”

“I need more data and I am but one pony. If you could help me, perhaps we could make some real progress! I have tasks of all ability levels and skills. Repeated trials are welcome, as it provides more consistent data. So please, take a look.” Professor Golden Sage passes over a list of possible ways ponies can help with her research.

    Specimen Requests

-Mucus from a Wild Magic influenced Bufogren (Location: Bog)

-Scales or Egg Shells from a Wild Magic influenced Cragadile (Location: Everfree Forest)

-Droppings from a Wild Magic influenced Fruit Bat (Location: Edge of Ponyville and Everfree Forest)

    Task Requests

-Attempt to speak with a Wild Magic influenced creature normally capable of speech and report findings.

-Help examine and test the properties of the Moon Widow’s dismembered leg.

-Go through old records and legends to find instances of Wild Magic.

If your character goes to the meeting hosted by Headmaster Jade Caster…

Headmaster Jade Caster holds his meeting in one of the lecture halls of the Canterlot School of Magic. Most of the ponies there seem anxious or concerned. It seems many do not believe Wild Magic should be messed with. Once the meeting time is reached, Jade Caster requests all ponies take their seats. He then takes the podium at the front and dives into the issue without delay.

“As you may have seen, there are some troubling developments happening in Ponyville. For those of you who live here in Canterlot, please know that it does not mean we are safe from the peril of these practices. Professor Golden Sage and others are becoming involved with Wild, Corrupted Magic.”

Whispers of alarm spread through the crowd.

“Our great realm is a shadow of its former self due to these dark forces and they want to play scientist and scholar with them! At best it is negligent and foolish, at worst borderline malicious. Has not pony-kind been hurt enough? Dare they take everypony’s pain and suffering so lightly? All efforts should be made to rid of the world of this corruption, not study or manipulate it!” Headmaster Jade Caster’s genuine fury is palpable, though he does calm himself before continuing.

“I have tried to warn her of the dangers. I have demanded she stop, though she does not listen. She pushes forward even now. So instead we must do something. I hate to use our efforts and resources in this way, but I feel it is necessary for the safety of Equestria. We must make the realm safe again.”

The headmaster has an official list of tasks he wishes for the public to assist him with. As ponies speak to him more privately, though, it is implied that certain other actions would not be unwelcome. He does not say so outright, though, do to his public position.

    Public Tasks:

-Find instances of damages done by Wild Magic and make records.

-Collect any objects or creatures that seem infected with Wild Magic, to be put into holding under the School’s supervision.

-Hear and record stories of ponies experiences with the dangers of Wild Magic.

    Secret Tasks:

-Steal specimens from Professor Golden Sage’s lab.

-Spy on Professor Golden Sage’s research.

-Try to prevent Professor Golden Sage’s research.

Prompt: Show your character completing one of the requests for either Professor Golden Sage or Headmaster Jade Caster.

The next part of the event will launch November 20th!

All November Event Submissions are due by November 30th at 11:59 PM EST.

November Event Part 1: Controversial Academia

Around Ponyville, Sumit’s Hollow, and Canterlot, odd flyers began to appear. They were made of a sparkling parchment with glowing letters that could be seen even when the sun had gone down. While they caught the attention of nearly everypony who saw them, most were hastily returned to their posting or even thrown in the trash. If a character were to examine these flyers they would find the following message:

Aid in the Research of Wild Magic!

Professor Golden Sage is conducting very important research into the nature of Wild Magic and needs your help!

Ponies of all kinds needed, no magic abilities necessary!

Please help us further our understanding of this amazing phenomenon!”

At the bottom is an address to a building located on the outskirts of Ponyville.

Prompt: Create a piece depicting your character reacting to this flyer. Are they angry? Interested? Excited? Do they plan to help? Or would they rather someone put a stop to this dangerous research?

All entries are due at 11:59PM EST on November 11th.

    October Event Part 4: Finale

From the moment Sword Dancer’s hooves left the ground and lunged toward the Moon Widow, chaos flooded the cavern. The independent actions of all the ponies together was unpredictable and disjointed. But perhaps, in the end, this was to their advantage.

Sword Dancer parried a slash from one of Moon Widow’s secondary legs, leaving a charred mark on her exoskeleton. Before she could go in for another attack, Pas had cracked another leg and Frostbite was aglow with magic. The chill that shot through the air had Sword Dancer ducking back. Ice shards shot left and right like shattered glass. Sword Dancer swung her head and let loose an arch of fire from her horn. The flames intercepted the largest of the shards leaving only puddles of water and scorch marks behind.

Managing this level of friendly-fire was not something Sword Dancer was used to. It was the cost of ending up in a combat situation with untrained ponies. She snored, causing a cloud of her breath to rise in the cool air. She had to prioritize protecting the civilians. And so the Knight Commander rushed forward, focusing on intercepting strikes from the Moon Widow. In a few instances she intercepted her in close quarters, her horn tangling directly with the giant spider’s mandibles. But there was too much for even her to keep track of. As Frostbite’s ice coated the floor in a thick sheet, Sword Dancer jumped back and her hooves slid. She crashed back into a stalagmite and the impact shook loose a stalactite from the ceiling. It fell right to where Sword Dancer had fallen, burying her in a pile of loose stone and rubble. Stunned, she regained her focus sometime later to see not only Swan Song impale the Moon Widow, but also Brave Storm drive it deeper into her head. These civilians were more capable than she’d thought.

Using her long hind legs and one shorter one, the Moon Widow pulled the ice shard from her wounded eye. With a wet, sloshing pop it was freed. Blood splattered onto the ground before the ice shard clattered and tinkled behind. The echoing sound throughout the cavern entrance sucked the threatening aura away. The Moon Widow may have been large and powerful, but she was outnumbered and wounded. This was nothing like facing simple bat pony prey alone.

The Moon Widow groaned and dragged her head backward through her own blood. The blue liquid smeared across her mandibles and the tips of her remaining front leg. The hiss that tumbled from her was low and pained.

“Cursed…ponies…” Her chitter was guttural and anguished.

There was one quick moment where all was still before the Moon Widow heaved her massive body and leapt backward through the cave entrance. Her carapace shone briefly under the true starlight before she sprung again, disappearing into the darkness. The remnants of her web hung from the cave walls and flapped listlessly from a weak incoming wind. The Moon Widow was gone.

Sword Dancer groaned and pushed herself out from under the rocks. “Let’s head back. We must tend to the injured, rest, and inform them of the monster’s departure.”

And so the ponies returned to the cavern village. The earth pony refugee and bat pony were a bit bruised, but ultimately unharmed. At first the inhabitants of Sumit’s Hollow seemed numb to the news of the Moon Widow’s disappearance. But slowly, just like the warmth of a fire slowly creeps into cold and weary bones, joy and excitement began to take hold of the bat ponies. They were free at last! They could finally venture into Equestria again!

All volunteers and refugees returned to Ponyville. From there everypony parted ways, with much gratitude given to the brave ponies who faced off against the giant spider corrupted by Wild Magic.

Sumit's Hollow is now an official location on the map!

Brave Storm got 10 Chaos Points!

    Frostbite got 20 Chaos Points!

    Pas got 10 Order Points!
Red Herring got 5 Chaos Points and Order Points!

Swan Song got 20 Order Points!

Calico Jack got 5 Order Points!

Velvet Wing got 5 Chaos Points and Order Points!

    Moonstone got 5 Chaos Points!

    Adventure Guild

Equestria is a dangerous place in today’s age, but that means there are many opportunities for thrill seekers! Somepony needs a job done that involves a little risk, they bring it to the adventure guild, which in turn gives out jobs to adventurers of all kinds!

Adventures give your character a specific prompt to create a piece around. Many adventures involve Stat Checks or Action Chains to fully establish the prompt.

All adventures offer a minimum bonus of an additional 10 PP/HS per submission, but sometimes more can be earned, including special items, new characters, and abilities.

Each character can only take part in 1 adventure per week.

There are two kinds of adventures: Safe Adventures and Risky Adventures.

Safe Adventures are low stakes, meaning that failure has little to no real consequences, but also rewards are small.

Risky Adventures are high stakes, meaning that failure can result in harm to your character! Characters can take damage in these adventures and if they reach 0HP, they will be barred from Adventure and most events for the rest of the month while they recover. These adventures offer larger rewards, however, in return for the risk.

October Event Part 3: Moon Widow's Rise

All October Event submissions are due by 11:59PM on October 31st!

“We used to live peacefully with the Star Spiders, but when the Wild Magic came…well, one became the Moon Widow,” Explained an elderly bat pony to the newcomers. “Those of us living in Sumit’s Hollow had never been unable to come and go as we pleased before. The Moon Widow took advantage of that. She builds her webs at all the exits large enough for Bat Ponies to fit through. She covers her webs with small droplets, so at night the webs shine like the very stars themselves! We lost many a pony thinking they were flying openly into the night, only to be ensnared by the Moon Widow’s deception.”

“Your friend…and one of ours, they were taken by the Moon Widow. They were wrapped up in webbed cocoons and carried off,” admitted the bat pony to lead them in. “A knight…he wandered in later and insisted he go after them. He’s probably caught too, if I had to guess. She doesn’t eat them immediately but…” The bat pony’s voice began to break as she fought back tears. It seemed that they had given up escaping the Moon Widow long ago.

“That’s enough. If this Moon Widow truly eats ponies, they are a threat that must be dealt with,” stated Sword Dancer. She turned toward her volunteers and any bat ponies that would listen. “I will depart shortly. If you wish to fight with me, you must accept the risk that you may be hurt or worse. If you do not wish to fight, but still help, perhaps come with the goal of retrieving the captured ponies. We want to remove them from the Moon Widow as soon as possible.”

Within minutes the group was off. It wasn’t a mystery of where to go; the bat ponies explained that by now the Moon Widow would have covered the new cave opening. It was just too tempting a place for her to wait and catch more victims. After traveling for a while, the sound of tired breathing began to echo through the cave tunnels. Eventually the figure of a unicorn crossed into Sword Dancer’s beam of light. He was sitting slumped against the wall, breathing heavily. He had a nasty gash on his leg and blood covering his neck.

“Report,” demanded Sword Dancer of her knight.

He gave a weak smile. “I found that…spider thing. I saw the cocoons the ponies were in. I grabbed one, but she got me good.”

Sword Dancer looked around for a cocoon, but only saw scattered patches of thread, “Where did it go?”

“I cut her loose,” the knight explained. “She was weak…but she told me maybe if I helped her, she could go back and get the other pony…”

    “Helped how?”

“Gave her a drink…” he trailed off before finishing, “She flew off quickly after that.”

Sword Dancer didn’t show much of a reaction, instead studying the knight for a long moment, before turning back down the passage. “We’re almost there. Look lively, everyone! We may be needed yet!”

They heard the commotion long before they saw it. There were sounds of grunting, chittering, and scratching on stone. When the cave entrance came into view it was a dazzling sight. At first it looked like a dazzling night sky with a full blood moon. It was only as the ponies looked closer that it was clear there was a giant eight legged silhouette hiding in plain sight. And there, pinned under one leg tip, was a pale pink and yellow bat pony. It was a frightening comparison, for though the bat pony was no larger than your average pony, she was not even the size of the Moon Widow’s head. No wonder the bat ponies feared her.

    Art thumbnail

At the sight of the newcomers, the Moon Widow let out a chilling shriek before throwing the bat pony onto the ground among the shadows. Near the opposite cave wall from the bat pony’s crumpled form was a large cocoon with torn threads attached.

“This ends now,” barked Sword Dancer, before charging forward, horn bright like a sword aflame.

    Stat Checks and Action Chains

    Stat Checks

Any action requiring a Stat Check will require a player to roll a random number. The range of the random number generator is determined by the character’s Stats. What number is needed to pass depends on the action. Admin will always tell players what number is needed for passing before a Stat Check occurs.

All Stat Checks are done using a random number generator bot on Discord. Those that use Discord may use the bot themselves to do Stat Checks. Any player who does not use Discord may request an Admin use the bot for them. The public space of Discord ensures no cheating is done on Stat Checks.

    Action Chains

Action Chains are when characters experience a chain of choices and Stat Checks with a group Admin to determine the outcome of an Event, Adventure, or other encounter. The Admin will announce both when the Action Chain starts and when it ends. Within that chain players will react to prompts given by the Admin until the chain ends. Once the chain has ended, the player is to create a piece showing the result of the chain. Upon that submission, players receive prizes appropriate to the results rolled.

    Example:

Admin: A strange pony tries to duck into a nearby alley unseen.

Player: Dark Wing tells the pony to stop! Does he know anything about the robbery?

Admin: Action Chain START! The pony looks uncomfortable. Roll a CHA check, 20 required to pass.

Player: Dark Wing rolls a number between 1 and 22. He gets a 16. Stat check failed.

Admin: The pony stutters for a moment, before he runs away.

Player: Dark Wing tries to catch the pony.

Admin: Roll a DEX check, 20 required to pass.

Player: Dark Wing rolls a number between 1 and 45. He gets a 36 and passes.

Admin: Action Chain END! Dark Wing catches the pony, who immediately starts to whimper and confess what he knows about the robbery. Depict this result!

    Abilities

Abilities are bonuses that can be used during a stat checking event or submission. Unlike fixed stats that individual ponies or species have, abilities only come into play when certain conditions are met.

Some species and vocations come with built in abilities. Additionally, all characters can unlock an ability every 5 levels.

    Unlockable Abilities

Lucky Charm [Any] - Reroll any stat check once.

Glass Cannon [Any] - Gain +5 STR or INT at the cost of -5 CON. Stat change lasts for the full action chain.

Helping Hand [Any] - When the outcome of a stat check affects the fate of another character, add +2 to any stat.

Adrenaline [Any] - Gain +2 to either STR, DEX, CON, or INT when the stat check is due to a dangerous situation.

Deep Focus [Any] - Make your next INT Stat Check start at 5, at the cost of -3 DEX on your next DEX Stat Check involving an defenseive action. Note: This makes your roll range from 5-INT instead of 1-INT.

Resilience [Any] - Whenever you roll a CON Stat Check in regards to taking damage, being poisoned, exposed to infection, etc., your character will roll TWICE. You take the best of the two rolls!

    Default Species Abilities

Echolocation [Bat] - In the dark or at night, +2 WIS.

Hive Minded [Changeling] - +1 to all Stat Checks when with other characters.

Herd Defense [Bovine] - +3 to CON Stat Checks when in a group.

Herd Agression [Bovine] - +3 to STR Stat Checks when in a group.

Flight Instinct [Deer] - +2 to DEX Stat Checks when avoiding attacks or danger.

Forest Senses [Deer] - +2 to WIS Stat Checks for detection or discovery when in any nature-based setting.

Pony Form [Changeling] - All Changelings have the ability from a very young age to take on a simple pony form that resembles either an Earth Pony, Unicorn, or Pegasus. Without dedicated study and practice, however, this singular form is the only one a Changeling can take and it closely resembles the colors and shapes found in their true form. (Changeling characters can get credit for pieces that depict their alternate pony form as long as that alternate form is also shown in their reference image)

Famished Form [Changeling] - An alternate form changelings may take on. This occurs when a changeling becomes obsessed with feeding on love, which can be triggered by loneliness, isolation, or other negative emotional states. It is reversable... (Chagelings may move between these forms, but each transfomation must be triggered by a piece or art or writing. It is not an easy on/off switch!)

    Unlockable Species Abilities

Blood Drive [Bat] - After consuming blood, +2 to STR, DEX, or CON.
