A Song for Winter: A Discordant Song for Winter

Chapter 51: A Discordant Song for Winter

Everyone William loved or cared for was dead. He was all that was left of the joint Clans of Wintersong-Drackonas. Rage, anger, and hatred filled William’s body as he swore revenge. Not just on those who were responsible for this massacre but everyone. There could be no peace until the world was punished for allowing this tragedy to happen. For that to happen, William would have to break the ancient laws of the Wintersong to bend magic to his will.

With his witch knife, William carved the entirety of the Winter Song onto his skin. Each rune bled and froze as the next one was cut into William’s flesh. Covered in blood and runes, he broke into the sacred hidden temple of the Winersong where the massive block of ice from the original snowfall was kept. William grabbed the chunk of ice and drained all of its power into his body. The runes carved into his flesh lit ablaze with blue energy in turn until they all pulsated with arcane energy. A singular sad note was heard as the primal ice lost the last of its power. William threw back his head with a howl to reveal that his once green eyes were now pools of fiery blue energy. His once grey and white fur was now black which made the blue runes stand out even more.

His world was not prepared for one person to have the incredible power that now flowed through William. Cities were frozen solid and shattered with a singular thought. Armies choked to death as if they were being strangled by invisible hands. Heads shattered, limbs were torn off, and organs turned to pure ice as William marched across the lands to spread his pain to everyone else. Diplomats were sent back to their kings in pieces moments before castles were hurtled from the planet. There were no survivors left on the planet by the end of the week. Unfortunately, that was when the first portal appeared to William. He studied the magics of the portal and soon realized he could use these to spread his pain to so many more people.

In Avangard, airships plummeted from the skies or were dashed into mountains by tornadoes that consumed the planet. Faedin’s mushroom forests were frozen as its citizens were crushed by comet-sized hail. All the flowers in Castimeria withered and died at once as the planet became choked of all of its air. The once-still planet of Eventide suddenly spun faster and faster until it tore itself apart and sent pieces of itself off into space. Pavia rained and rained and rained until the planet was no longer a desert world but a water world that found itself frozen solid. With each portal hop, William gained more and more power until he was the supreme being of the universe. All the power in the multiverse was his to control but it never fixed his pain. Nothing would bring back what he lost nor would it make him stop hurting. That was fine for him though as there were countless more worlds for him to make suffer as he had.
