Chapter 1: Mikey's Cabin

Mikey had always loved his cabin. So it would make sense that it'd be his home base. While he doesn't spend as much time as he used to there, he still enjoys hanging out in the familiar house. It wasn't a very big cabin, it only had one floor and a few rooms, but it was home to Mikey. His favorite room was the living room. He could see outside through the two big windows in the front, and enjoyed reading all the books on the large bookshelf in the living room. Of course, there was more to the small cabin than the living room. It had a decent kitchen, no food left however, it had a small bathroom, and a small but cozy bedroom. While Mikey's favorite activity was reading, there was also a small television set that worked on occasion. When it did he'd sit down and watch a movie or two, depending on how long it stayed on. He was never one to keep things spotless, he'd simply stack books on one another on the floor when he decided he was done with one. Of course, every now and then he'd clean up, pick up the books, dust, sweep.

It was quite hard for Mikey to work up the courage to leave his little cabin in the woods. It was all Mikey had ever known before leaving. He'd found many things in the cabin when he first entered, a coat, a pair of boots. Among many things he found weapons. It used to be a hunting cabin, he found, due to the bow and arrows and small hunting knives he had found. Eventually, he taught himself how to use them, using an old felled tree as target practice.

It got cold during the winters, when it would snow, Mikey loved when it would snow. He'd use an old axe that was sat on a large piece of a tree to cut firewood for the fireplace. The firewood that was already behind the cabin was enough to keep him warm for one winter, he had to chop his own wood after that.

Despite it's flaws and small size, Mikey enjoyed his cabin. He didn't need anything large anyways, it had always been just him. Perhaps that's why he decided to explore, maybe he was lonely, maybe he wanted to see something new, meet someone new. Whatever the reason, Mikey couldn't abandon his cabin, his home. He'd always return in the end, whether it be on his own or with someone else. Of course, being away for longer meant that he would have to clean a bit every time he returned, but that was fine by him. While there are no doubt better homes, safer homes, cleaner homes, Mikey liked his none the less. Maybe it was a little too hot during the summer and a little too cold during the winter, and maybe it was eerily dark and quiet at night. That didn't matter to Mikey, as it was home.
