A little Hydra's Adventure: Poisonous Swamp

A hydra lived from a faraway poisonous swamp. Covered by a thick mist that makes it hard to find, it was also covered by will-o-whisps that aimlessly wonders. This place is very dangerous for anyone who wonders, but she is a hydra. Poison does not bother her at all and the whisps makes way when she enters.

 

The place has little food to offer, that’s why there are very little living things here. The things that roam here are mostly ghosts and the undead. Hayao is not happy about it, but thankfully foolish humans visit her from time to time. They are her favorite snack. Having fresh meat from this dead swamp is very rare after all.

 

The hydra love humans as a snack, so she observes them every time they visit. She copies how they speak, walk, eat, and other things that humans do. But suddenly, humans no longer visit her. She is sad, and hungry. She does not know what she did why they no longer come but its most likely she over feed with humans. After a long time of pondering and thinking, she decided to visit the humans instead and leave her home. She applied what she learned on how to act like a human and transforms herself into one before going.

 

On her journey to find a human settlement, she always asks passing travelers that she met for direction and a bit of snack. The road was harsh for the little hydra, but she never gives up. Every time she was at the verge of giving up, she always listens to hear stomach. Yes, her grumbling stomach that tells her to never give up. After days of hard work, she now found a human settlement, her new home. Passing the huge stony gate, she heard the guards talking.

 

One of the guards said, “Have you heard about the poisonous swamp hydra?”.

 

“It looks like they are no longer sending adventurers to face it because no one ever returns.” Another guard replied.

 

The hydra is shaken, it looks like eating all the humans who visit is a bad idea. She also figured out that the ones she ate are called adventurers. She asked one of the guards, “Where can I find the adventurers?”

 

“They are at the guild at that direction.” The guard replied and pointed to the left side of the town.

 

The hydra disguised as a human rushed towards the direction. Upon entering, she was welcomed by a receptionist, “Welcome, how can I help you? Looks like you are new here, do you want to register as an adventurer?”

 

The hydra was puzzled. Then decided to accept the offer with a nod. The receptionist asks her some questions while filling up a form and when she finally asked her name, the hydra replied, “Hy…”

 

She stopped. She almost said she was a hydra. She corrected herself and said “Hayano”.

“Okey Hayano, your registration is complete. If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.” The receptionist said with a smile.

 

Hayano raised her hand and said, “The hydra at the swamp is not dangerous at all. Please send some adventurers.”

 

The receptionist is puzzled, “Yes?”
