Chapter 10: Found
Feelow was seated on a large bolder that overlooked the city, she was waiting for her comrades to ketch up to her. They had decided to take the girl into custody before the entire purge was finished. It was for her own safety. The military would be looking for her soon, and if they found her⌠it would be more difficult to acquire her.
Her eyes shifted from the tall silver buildings, as a familiar figure appeared on the branch of a great tree, above her.
âQuite lovely, isnât it Deyakeo?â she smiled bitter sweetly.
âIt wonât be that way for long⌠sadly.â The Dream Giver closed his eyes and lent back to push his weight into the treeâs core, still standing on the branch. Reaching above his head, Deyakeo plucked a leaf from the branch above him. âThis place will become cinders once the young female is in our company.â He opened his eyes quickly, as if startled by something. â I just hope our master doesnât push the girl to kill her companions⌠her heart wouldnât stand for it.â he crushed the leaf in his hand.
Feelow sighed, slumping foreword and cupping her hands over her face. â Have you seen our master since we touched ground?â
âI have not.â Deyakeo stated quietly.
âI havenât ether... I know this, Bejiita has a serious desire to erase the humans from this world⌠if they piss his off again⌠they will ALL die⌠not one human will be spared. Bejiita will keep us here until their species is nonexistent. â
Deyakeo cringed slightly. â I know what theyâve done⌠and it truly hasnât been that long...â
âDonât forget your place Dream Giver.â A cold snicker caught Deyakeoâs attention. âYou trader.â
âBACK OFF, YOU, HALF BREED GARBAGE!â Feelow whipped around to see a smiling Ocura.
âWhat? Heâs talking like he had nothing to do with what happened.â Ocura looked up at Deyakeo, who was facing him with a rather unpleasant look in his eyes. âWhat, Dream giver⌠you think you can change what youâve done because youâre the princeâs little pet now!?â
âThat⌠Is enough.â The thick, dark voice of their master filled the air with an eerie silence. Deyakeo dropped from the tree gracefully to Feelowâs side. All three soldiers remaining completely silent.
Bejiita looked out over the city skeptically. â where is she?â he turned to Feelow, looking for answers.
âIâm not shier sire, she disappeared from my senses some time ago.â Feelow met her masterâs gaze with sight hesitation.
âWell than I guess weâll have to go look for her.â the sick smile on Bejiitaâs face made Feelowâs stomach churn. âDeyakeo,â the prince sill smiling wickedly.
âYes master.â The creature bawd, half lidded eyes snapping up quickly. He hadnât seen his master with such an expiration on his face in ages, but when ever it happened, it wasnât good.
â I wont you to take Feelow and head to the center of the city. Destroy everything in site.â
Eyes widened on both the Dream Giver and the female Saijen, Ocura just smirked, eyes sparking with curiosity. The female Saijen spoke hesitantly, but with a desperate need of an explanation.
âBut why sir! We could kill the target!â Feelow quivered, her mind questioning if her mastered had lost his sanity.
â Do you think Iâm stupid Feelow?â The grin dropped from his face as his eyes darkened. Feelow didnât opened her mouth to protest, but Bejiitaâs words hit the air first. âSheâs underground.â
Ocura looked over at Bejiita for the first time sense he had landed beside him. âHow do you know that she is, sir?â
âThatâs the only place where we canât sense her life energy.â He smiled chillingly, turning away from his pets. âNow go.â
Naomi was nearly pissing in her pants. She had never felt more terrified in her life. Her father could have been stranding in front of her with a pistil pointed at her head, and she still wouldnât have been as mortified as she was at this moment. It was a fear with a question. Was âheâ really real? Was the commotion outside truly the eradication of all mankind?
It sounded like bombs being dropped on top of them. It was so loud. Even from under the earthâs soil and thick concrete the sounds of destruction could be heard loud and clear.
She sat huddled against the wall with her hands clasped over her ears and her eyes shut tightly. Rachel was barely a breath away from her friend. Tears ran dawn her cheeks and fell onto her knees, witch were held tightly under her jaw. Little whimpers could be heard in any direction in the large space the students occupied. Students held each other, crying on one anotherâs shoulders. Teachers were no different from the young adults that surrounded them⌠they were all sacred beyond comprehension, blatantly, because all humanâs feared death.
âRachel.â The whisper went unheard. Naomi opened her eyes and removed her hands from her ears. A shrill scream ripped though the air, causing Naomi to clench her ears in her hands harshly. Tiny bits of concrete began to crumble from the ceiling.
âNo! This isnât possible! This canât be happening!â a boy yelled, his eyes directed above.
âWhat are we going to do!?â a woman teacher sobbed, clenching her fists onto her hair.
Naomi and Rachel sat shell socked, watching in horror as debris fell to the floor. They didnât say a word.
Naomi wasnât crying like Rachel was. The exasperation on her face gave out a feeling of despair that surpassed tears.
And then it all came dawn. Half the ceiling came crumbling damn upon dozens of students and teachers alike.
Naomi would have never thought she would witness such a disaster. It was a hell that she refused to believe was before her.
Every shred of silence that had once held scraps of Naomiâs train of thought now vanished.
Desperate screams covered the air in terror.
They were there⌠they had come just like he said they would⌠were ever she would be, he would find her, and just as promised, he had.
The beings stood in the center of the room. One was a woman, and the other⌠was the creature from her first dreamâŚ. Naomiâs eyeâs widened with shock.
They looked calm, focused⌠undeterred by the noise around them.
Everyone that could still walk, crowded in the one half of the room. Naomi grabbed Rachel and pulled her into her before she was swallowed in the crowd.
Rachelâs knees gave in.
âRachel, Rachel!â Naomi shook her friend.
âNaomi⌠are we going to die?â Rachel looked up at Naomi. Her mascara had run from her eyes and her hair was tussled from her prior sleep.
âDonât ask stupid questions RachelâŚâ Naomi kept the two of them against the wall. People around them pushed and shoved, but Naomi held tight. She looked up, just in time to see another being drop from the open sky to the destroyed shelter.
âYou find her yet, Feelow?â another man⌠he looked younger than the other two.
âSilence, Kirose.â The woman spoke sternly.
Naomi couldnât hear what they were saying⌠she didnât think one person in the whole room had shut their mouths since the ceiling caved in. Naomi looked dawn at Rachel and sighed. If they were going to get out of this alive⌠they were going to have to make some sacrifices. The people around them were going to have to be seen as little more than obstacles⌠Naomi was going to have to keep her head, as humanly possible throughout the entire ordeal in order to save herself and her best friend. She couldnât play hero, that wasnât an option. She wasnât about to leap out and save the day. Even if she had the guts⌠thatâs all she had⌠she knew she couldnât save any more than just the two of them⌠and even that was going to take some serious thinking.
Deyakeo hadnât said a word. He closed his eyes to concentrate and focus on their objective. It was more difficult than he had thought it would be⌠they were all moving⌠all panicked. Their thoughts jumbled together in a sea of screams.
â I cant work with all this commotion⌠weâre going to have to silence them⌠or were going to have to spend an unnecessary amount of time weeding though these humans to find her.â
âWell what are we waiting for than? Witch oneâs can I get rid of first?â a cruel snicker escaped Kiroseâs lips.
Feelow gave Kirose a cold stare and bared her teeth to him. âYou think that would calm them. You ingrate⌠he didnât mean kill them, he meant shut them up for a minuet.â
âOh.â Kirose relaxed and smiled at the cowards sickeningly sweet. âwell how are we suppose to go about doing that?â
Feelow rolled her eyes. âAsk, you idiot.â
Deyakeo stepped forward, eyes soft and kind. âI believe I can calm them more efficiently than that⌠they will not recover from our intuition that quickly no matter what we say.â The Dream Giver closed his eyes once again⌠and every one in the room fell to the ground in moments.
âWell hell, Deyakeo, if it was that easy to shut them up, why the hell did you even bother to complain about it!â Kirose walked over to one of the bodies and knelt next to it. âShit⌠theyâre all out cold.â
âNot quite⌠that wasnât powerful enough to pull a Saijen into submission.â Deyakeoâs eyes lifted and focused on a girl in the back of the sea of bodies clinging to a single human in silence.
âWeâve found her.â Deyakeo smiled and tuned to Feelow.
