The sky was a pretty, light, bright blue. He was forced to see for the tenth time as he was nearly implanted into the ground as he threw him down again. He couldn’t understand it. Why was this happening? Shaking it off he pulled himself out of the hole in the ground and looked back.

“You okay?” Yamcha bristled at the question. Vegeta was weaker than ever and he still couldn’t land a hit. In ki less fight Vegeta was throwing him around like a rag doll. Then he was asking him if he was okay. That made it ten times worse. Insult to injury then if Vegeta was being sincere in his no memory state.

“I’m just fine! Thank you!”

Vegeta was moved back by the tone. The man was so mean. He was charging him like he was trying to kill him. He reacted. Why was he so angry at him defending himself? He couldn’t understand. He started to think this person didn’t like him now or before.

And then his own anger spike when he looked at him back at the building. Maybe . . . maybe they had a grudge against each other. Vegeta gave a light smile trying to defuse the situation.

“Don’t do that!” Which didn’t do any good.

“Do what?”

“Smiling . . . like that! It just does not look right on you.” Vegeta’s blood boiled the more he heard the man’s voice.

“Neither does that yellow jacket on you. But, I wasn’t going to say anything about.”

Vegeta eyes widen as his mouth snapped out another insult before he mind could stop him. He started banging to fist to his forehead. “Stop that, stop that, stop that, stop that, stop that!” He stopped himself as the light knocks to his head were starting to annoy him. “Sorry. It’s doesn’t look that ba . .. No, I mean it . . . it’s an . . . okay color on . . . no I . .I . . . nevermind. I’m not good at lying.” Vegeta stopped trying to fix the problem shaking his head as he was looking at the ground. He couldn’t do it and he was tired of trying. Vegeta turned to Goku, as he seemed to be the ringleader here. “Are we done yet?” Goku smiled grimmly.

“Not yet.” Vegeta only sighed annoyed like. He ranked his hand through his upswept hair. He was annoyed with the whole thing.

Vegeta nodded to himself and turned fully to him. He didn’t have to stay here. He wasn’t his master or anything. He was sure of that.

“Well too bad for you. I’m done with this. Have fun.” Vegeta walked away from them. Goku was stunned for long moments.

“Hey! Vegeta wait!”

“Do not call me that meaningless name. The villagers gave me the name Onyx. Use it for the remaining time I am here. A day and a half.” Goku narrowed his eyes.

“Even without his memories his still as stubborn as an old mule.” He smiled as he was close to what he should be. Chuckling at the though he turned to the others. “Go on back. I’ll take care of this.”

“You sure, man?” Krillen asked. He sounded like he didn’t like the idea.

“Yeah. This will get a little heated but, it’s better this way. Saiyan to confused Saiyan.” *Which one is the really confused one though, I’m not sure. I’m confused on how this happened and how to fix it and he’s confused about who he is.*

Everyone nodded to everyone else and flew off trusting Goku to do whatever he thought was best. Goku got his determied look on his face and fazed in front of Vegeta.

“Okay. ‘Onyx’! If that’s the way your want to play it. Then you leave me no choice.” He grabbed him and flew him up to the tallest mountain in the area. Once up on the top Goku let Vegeta go. “Okay. The only way down is for you to go through the training here. Because you are not leaving until you learn some ki control at least.” Vegeta narrowed his eyes like normal but, that only lasted a moment before he smiled.

“Fine. Round two.” He said sitting down on the rocky floor. Like a child not wanting to take a bath. Goku watched not amused as Vegeta took off his gloves and throwing them aside in almost distaste.

“Hey! Put those back on!” Vegeta didn’t pay him much attention as he was cleaning under his nails like he was looking for something to do, so he could drown out Goku’s voice.

Goku sat down no more than six feet away from him, as he was going to wait Vegeta out. There was no way Vegeta could just sit there all day and night. It was in Vegeta’s nature to fight. Goku somewhat expected this to a degree.

Goku was watching the sun go down in the distance. Vegeta hadn’t said a word and he was sunbathing in the afternoon sun since he sat down hours ago. He pulled down the top part of his one piece suit and laid there. Goku would have been amazed at Vegeta’s patience and control . . . if he remember who he was. It truly looked like Vegeta really would wait the whole day and a half up on this mountain. Stubborn as ever. Goku almost smiled. Almost.

As the sun was going down Vegeta sat back up and pulled his top part back up on his shoulders. He put his hands on the back of his head and laid back down. Goku had it.

“Fine! Stay up here for the rest of the night! See if I care!” Vegeta only smiled as Goku out two fingers to his forehead and disappeared.

“About time. He if didn’t leave soon. I was going to eat my own hand.” Vegeta stood up covering his stomach with his hand as the cold burning pain was getting worse and worse with every second that passed.

He looked over the side of the mountain. It was a long way down, but he wasn’t worried. If he fell, then his stomach wouldn’t feel like this anymore. Vegeta shock the weird thought away. Putting back on the gloves, Vegeta slowly lowered himself down. He judged about a hour climb down. But, that was okay. A little climb would do him good.

Goku appeared next to Gohan who didn’t sense him coming. There was no Vegeta with him. That caused alarm.

“Um? Dad? Whe . . .”

“Still on the mountain top. I knew Vegeta was stubborn but sheesh!” Goku sat down trying to calm down. “I figured if I left Vegeta up there for a while maybe he’ll stop fighting me so much.”

“How very Vegeta like of you, dad.”

“Well maybe a little of his own old medicine will do him some good.”

After almost falling twice and scraping his arm up a bit Vegeta put both his feet on the ground. Now it was time to find something to eat. He hadn’t eaten since last night as the robot was placed outside his room. He said he was hungry and the thing signaled to one of the others and it brought plates of food to the ceiling. He eat everything that was brought and requested more. The robots kept coming. He was sure were all the food was coming from or where it was going for the matter. It was like he had hallow legs or something.

He was hoping that the game was very heavy in this area. He was so hungry he was still thinking about eating his own arm . . . a little.

X)(X

Goku waited two hours before going back. Mostly because he was busy eating since he didn’t eat anything but, a small breakfast the filled the table up with dishes that morning. He flew off as Vegeta’s energy was too low to feel still and couldn’t transport himself to his location. He almost felt bad that he Vegeta felt there so long.

“Vegeta! I’m back. You ready to listen to me now?” No answer. In fact he didn’t even see him. “Vegeta?” He turned all the way around. “Vegeta! Where are you!?” Vegeta hand shot up over the ledge feeling for a handhold and held into a sturdy rock and started to pull himself over the ledge. It seemed to be easier for him to climb up than climbing down.

Goku heard the moving of rocks and saw Vegeta’s hand and part of his head. Rushing over he pulled Vegeta up onto the mountain top.

“What happened?! What were you doing?!” Vegeta didn’t even give him a second though as he had a content stomach, he was under the stars, and no Hazel to bug him. He couldn’t remember feeling so good before. Even if he was stuck with the weirdest people he had even meant in his life. Vegeta only bend Goku’s finger back making Goku let go.

Goku looked closer seeing Vegeta was ignoring him . . . again. “Fine. ‘Onyx’ will you answer me?”

“No.” Vegeta said with a yawn as he walked past him..

“No your not going to answer me or no your not going to listen to me?”

“Take a wild guess.” Vegeta said sitting down in the same spot he was laying down at not too long ago. Goku fisted his hands before calming himself down.

“Come on. You got to be getting hungry and we can go eat as soon as we learn some ki control. How about that?”

“One. I’m full at the moment. Thanks anyways.” Goku noticed the blood on his gloves. Meaning he caught something while he was gone. That’s what he was doing. How he got down without hurting himself, which was rather impressive with no equipment or ki to help him. This was a very tall mountain and it was black a pitch. And then climbed back up the same way.

His attention went back to Vegeta words, as his tone got slightly meaner as he started talking again.

“And two the word ki means nothing to me.” Vegeta sat up from the ground glaring slightly. “You’re wasting your time and mine. I only agreed to do this for two days because I didn’t want that blue haired one to start crying.” Vegeta stood looking at him calmly even this words were almost hurtful. “Now even if I was one of you or better yet a whatever you called it. I’m not sure if I would even want to remember any of it. A life meant only for fighting? It’s such a waste a perfectly good talents.” Goku was right next to him in a blink of an eye and smacked him hard. It was almost treason what Vegeta was saying about the Saiyan race. He hoped that hit might spark some of the angry again to get his ki to react.

The blow didn’t hurt him much but, it made emotions run high as his blood boiled. He turned his head back to Goku almost growling as words.

“That was just plain rude.” Goku felt a burn as he was knocked back and then darkness fell over him. As he was off guard and kiless at the wrong time.

Vegeta pulled back his crackling fist. Blueish-white sparks were going off right above the skin. His anger was replaced my shock the sparks went down. “Okay. I guess that’s what you meant by ki power, huh?” He looked down at the unconscious Goku a few feet away. *Well Kakorot. Even you can prove defenseless when you down your guard.* Vegeta shook his head again as strange thoughts come again.

“What is a Kakorot?” He sat back down at looked at his slightly blood strained gloved hands. Peeling the gloves he looked at his hands. They looked the same. So the ‘ki power’ isn’t damaging to me. Or so it seemed. But, seemed to hurt Goku quite a bit with one punch. How strange.

He closed his eyes and concentrated on his anger. A blueish orb formed in his hand. Sweat was running down his face as to was so hard to concentrate on one emotion. He needed to focus on something that made him angry. The perfect thing popped into his head.

She would do just fine.

Goku came back to reality. It was still night so he wasn’t out too long. Or so he thought. He wasn’t sure about that. Goku sat up and saw his gi removed and a makeshift bandage out of the material. The burn injury was small and would heal over night but, the sentiment was appreciated. He was only hurt because his ki was lowered all the way down so he be using his natural strength was the amnestic Vegeta. Which seemed to be a mistake. A big mistake. *I guess there is no such thing as a defenseless Saiyan, memory or no. Okay. I’m going to keep my ki above three-thousand at all times around him.*

He saw Vegeta mumbling to himself. He seemed to be in completely concentration. Goku got up and walked slowly to Vegeta so not to get a startled response. Before he got to him he saw Vegeta formed a ki ball in his hand. He watched Vegeta’s eyes open and then looked at him.

“Oh. You’re awake. I’m not sure what I did, but I sure it had something to do with this.” He rolled the ki ball in his hand a little.

“Wow Vegeta. For someone who didn’t understand what ki was. You sure picked up on it fast.”

“I guess you would know about that.” Vegeta let the ki ball drop and blasted with a small flash. The damage was minimal. A very weak attack but it was very impressive for a first timer working with ki. Although he did work with ki all his life before the accident. So maybe, somewhere is his mind I might remember something about ki. It was impossible to tell.

Deciding it was enough for today Goku put two fingers on his forehand and grabbed Vegeta’s shoulder. Vegeta felt the same feeling of moving and not moving again and he was back at the building withy the strange people again.

“That was quicker than I thought I would be.” Goku laughed with his usual hand behind his head. Krillen come in right behind them as he went to get Marron’s toys and things. After all Vegeta was one of there own. A slight outsider by his choice and actions. But very much needed. They were going to help him until he remembered who he was. Marron was in her P.J’s and her eyes lit up when she came into the room.

“You’re back.” In a full out sprint she ran. Krillen dropped the stuff to receive his daughter but, she ran past him. Shocked he looked behind him seeing Marron going to Vegeta. She clutched his leg in a small death grip laughing and giggling all the way. The shock went room wide as Vegeta picked her up and picked her on his hip holding her small weight with one arm.

“Looks like someone missed me.” She only continued to giggle like mad.

Vegeta was unaware of the strange stares and hanging mouths from the others. As this would never happen in their minds.

“Would you read me my bedtime story, pretty please with a cherry on top?” Krillen nearly sunk to the floor in a collapsed heap. That was his routine. Read her a chapter of her bedtime story, tuck her in, kiss her on the cheek, and tells her he loves her. It was his thing. Why did Marron want Vegeta to do that?

“How could I say no to such a cute little face?” Her smile went to a mile and she hugged him the best her little arms could. “Do you have a book?” She nodded and Vegeta sensed she wanted down. As her feet touched the floor she ran to one of the bag Krillen brought with him. Picking the right one on her first try she grabbed a book with a red ribbon in the middle of it as it served like a bookmark. She ran back to him, not even seeing the look of her father’s face, and displayed it up to Vegeta. He smiled and took the book from her and she grabbed his hand.

“This way. I’m staying in the guestroom here. Come on!” Vegeta followed slowly as her small steps lead him upstairs. The rest stayed in the kitchen. If Vegeta remembered any of this. They had blackmail from the rest of his life.

X)(X

Marron was fast asleep and Vegeta picked the ribbon on the start of the new chapter. Walking out of the room he saw Krillen outside her room.

“She asleep?” His voice sounded strange. Almost upset. But, anger was apparent.

“Yes.” There was long moments and nothing was said. Vegeta started to move on.

“That’s my job, you know?” Vegeta turned around.

“Job?”

“Reading to her.” Vegeta was confused. This city people were a strange group.

“You said job. You see it as some kind of chore?” Krillen moved closer to him.

“No. I just want to know. Why she wanted you to do it?” The anger coming off the him was confusing to Vegeta. There seemed to be no really reason for it.

“You were in the room when she asked. If you had a problem then. You could have said something before. There is no reason to get mad at me. I do not understand why you are acting in such a matter. I would not hurt her or have anything to gain in doing so.” Vegeta gentle wisdom in his non-aggression form made the storm calm in Krillen. Vegeta had a point. A good one.

Krillen mood disappeared. Jealously was high and made him stupid. He was embarrassed about his previous actions. He looked at Vegeta was eyes that screamed apologizes.

“I’m sorry. I just . . . I’m not even sure.”

“Accepted. If you will excuse me.” Vegeta walked down to room that was his for the moment, leaving Krillen behind in the hallway.

It was close to mid-night and Trunks was upside the door of Vegeta’s room. He was nervous. His father never liked being woke up. Not that really matter as he was up before the sun anyways but, still. He was about to walk off when the door opened and a robot with plates stacked taller than it rolled past him. Trunks saw the lights on and gathered his courage to go inside.

Seeing his father with plates of food around him on the floor. He rarely seen the appetite like this. Goku sure all the time but his father didn’t have to eat constantly. His metabolism although high could slow itself down. His father was eating with a hungry that seemed to surpass Goku’s. Vegeta looked up at the child and swallowed.

“Can I help you?” Trunks looked down.

“I just wanted to talk.”

“I see. Mind closing the door?” Trunks did so and leaned against it a little. He watched as Vegeta ripped out a leg from a roasted chicken with his teeth. He manners were replaced by a staving hunger. He couldn’t slow down if he wanted to. His body was in fully controll. The animals he hunted down and consumed seemed to have never happened. The same hunger in the village was plaguing him here. But, he felt it would be more excepted here than there. Although there was all he knew.

“I haven’t seen your appetite like this in a long while.” Vegeta stopped. His body allowed it this once.

“So . . . I really do belong here, don’t I?” Trunks looked at his father. He looked so depressed. He couldn’t remember ever seeing his father depressed. He smiled slightly seeing no reaction from his father. He was so different. For good reason but, he still didn’t like it.

“Dad? Will you ever remember me?”

“I have to remember myself first.” He stopped looking away from him. “I believe.”

“I missed you when you were gone. I felt it was all my fault.” Eyes the shined with hidden tears in the light looked straight at his. “If I don’t come there, then you wouldn’t had to save me and that rock would have hit you and then . . .you . . .would . . .” Tears he promised himself he wouldn’t shed, started down his cheeks.

He felt himself against a hard chest. It was like the time before he blow up Buu. He pretended to be embarrassed in front of Goten but, he really didn’t mind. He clutched on harder. *Come here son.*

sorry for the long update. I was stung by a wasp for the first time. I’m highly allergic. Who knew. My mind was out of it because of the anit-histamines the hospital stuffed down my throat. Now, I’m back.
