Chapter 11: Chapter 11: Soul Splitting

Miyuki: This might be the last chapter, I’m not sure. I may have an epilogue, but then again, I might not.

Dante: Anyway, what happens?

Miyuki: Okay, here’s chapter 11. Oh yeah, one final note, this chapter is not for Ranma/Akane fans!

Chapter 11: Soul Splitting

The old man walked forward and put his hands on Ranko’s shoulders. A faint light shone from both of them, and Akane gasped.

“Look at that!” she said, pointing above Ranko. A silvery orb hung in the air, shimmering slightly. “Is that . . . Ranma’s soul?”

“Yes, it is,” Cologne said. “I’ve seen this done only once before, when I was very young. It’s rare for anyone to use it.”

“Why?” Akane asked.

“Because unless it’s performed properly, the one that it’s used on will lose their soul forever.”

“Well then we’ve got to stop them!” she said.

“Don’t you dare. If you interfere now that the soul has emerged, Son-in-law will be doomed,” Cologne said. “Just watch. The old man knows what he’s doing.”

Akane looked up just in time to see the soul divide. One half went back into Ranko, jerking her out of the trancelike state she had been in. The other floated down beside her, and began to form into a familiar shape. It was Ranma, as a male.

Ranma blinked and looked over at Ranko. “Wow, it worked,” he said. Ranko looked back at him, then squealed and hugged him tightly.

“So I guess this means we’re brother and sister now!” she said, looking at him. Ryoga walked up to her and took her hand.

“I can be with you all the time now,” he said. Ranko sweatdropped.

“Oh yeah, that’s why we came to China in the first place. To find the cure for the lipstick. Wait a minute, how did you change back?” she said, pulling her hand away from him.

“The tour guide gave me and Shampoo some hot water,” he said. “But . . . there’s something I have to tell you. The lipstick wore off some time ago.”

“Then why are you still acting like this?” she asked.

Ryoga blushed. “The truth is . . . I’ve been with you for so long, that I . . . Well, I’ve liked you for some time now,” he said.

Ranko blinked. “You . . . you like me? Holy hell.”

“That reminds me, would you like me to end your curse too?” the old man asked Ryoga, who nodded enthusiastically.

A few minutes later, Ryoga stood by Ranko, while Akane held P-chan, who had ‘magically reappeared’, and Shampoo was inching towards Ranma, who was bravely fending off a cat (meaning he was hiding behind Cologne).

“Well, Akane, looks like you won’t have to worry about P-chan wandering off again,” Ranma said as Shampoo pulled the cat away from him, much to his relief.

“I guess that mean Ranma not love Shampoo anymore,” the blue-haired Amazon said sadly. Ranma looked over at her.

“Wait a minute, now who said that?” he asked, putting his hand on her shoulder.

“Well, lipstick wore off, so love potion no longer effective,” she said.

“Who said I needed a love potion? Shampoo, I like you, sometimes you just come on too strong. If you really liked me for who I was, instead of because of some dumb rule, then maybe it would have worked.”

“But Ranma, after I come back from re-training here, I come back to be with you, not because of rule,” she said. “I thought you know that.”

Ranma was dumbstruck. Shampoo really did like him!

“Well now, we came to China to get a cure for a love potion, and we leave with our curses cured!” Ryoga said happily.

Ranko smiled. “We’d better get going if we want to be back in Japan by morning.”

Ranma nodded, “Right. Thank you sir,” he said, turning around to wave at the old man.

He smiled. “Anytime, young man. Anytime.”

As the six people and two animals turned to go, the old man turned to the tour guide. “So why did you tell them the other springs wouldn’t work?” he asked curiously.

“Because I could tell pig-boy was really in love with red-headed girl, and if she used spring to get rid of curse, boy’s heart would be broken. I had to tell them that,” he explained.

Ranma looked back at Jusenkyo. “If I ever come back here, it’ll be too soon,” he said as they headed towards the airport to go back to Japan, and back to a normal life as a teenage boy.
