The child of cruel prophecy and the queen of the kindred.

Born to fall under abusive hands, malformed, sickly, small, and completely detached from the realms of magic. Resistant to its effects as much as he was unable to call upon it. Tobias was the bastard son of royalty and poverty. A princess having lost herself to a night of passion with a thief and bandit. Pure blood mixed with that of a feral nature. Both of dark blood, both ashamed of the acts they committed that night, both wishing to simply cover up the two children that had been produced.

Morrigan made it a point to keep herself well informed.

The Parker family, royal family of the Mystic Kingdom, had over a dozen children to the same name. Each of them with a record, a history, a past, an origin. All but one. Everything about him led her to a dead end. It was obvious that the child was never meant to be acknowledged as part of the true family line. The curiosity soon became and obsession and eventually the queen took it upon herself to meet with the bastard Parker in person. He was far from what she expected.

Defiant, wild, crude, and completely unrefined. His eyes never fell from hers, his knee never bent before her, and his tongue was not tamed by her authority among the kindred of the night. He was small, fragile in appearance, and covered with scars, and dressed the way a bandit would be. However, there was something more to the riddle. He had something that she’d not known for ages. It moved something within her, reminded her that there had once been a heart within the body that was now no different from a corpse.

A child that had known nothing but fear and anger, beaten until he became wild and angry as a fighting dog and a vampire who had no heart…

They had each other.

This was actually my first sucessfully digitally inked piece. It took weeks to ink, and more than two days to color. Nothing in the picture was pasted in. Though the background is kind of plain, I'm very pleased with it. I've very little experience in drawing them, much less actually coloring them.

Anyway, the original sketch was done in mechanical pencil ranging from .5 - .3. The rest of it was done in Adobe Photoshop 7.0.
