Roth - Linework

Posted Aug 18, 2005, 6:59:55 AM UTC
Ok, Lloyd, I need your go-ahead again. I started from scratch, but I like this version far better. What do you think? I felt I needed to close in on the figure more, fix his head size, and give him the detailing, and this is what happened. I'm at the part now where I can start shading and adding patterns, if you think he looks proper.

Note: Credit for sword design goes to Alvin A. Balajadia (Lloyd's friend).

    hey, do you do requests?
    • Aug 19, 2005, 11:11:44 AM UTC
If the request is something that inspires me and I haven't got a million other things on the go, I do. I do commissions far more readily, though. As of late, I've had an extremely full plate.

Yes Robin...go go go! But uh...where are you going? well, anywhoo, I like this version of Roth much better too. I think you have done a wonderful job closing in on the character. You can feel his emotion in it better than the last one. I absolutely LOVE the sword. I think I shall marry it. Great work hun. You never fail to amaze me. All my love.

Go go go! To the couch, I think, with my pencil. The sword design is from Lloyd's drawing "Roth's Divorce". I can't and won't take credit for it, because it's not mine! Upsidedown *poke* I love you too! Goodnight.

Hey! Stop poking me! You'll make me giggle like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. I thought that sword seemed vaguely familiar now that I look at it again. Actually, I didn't. I am lying. I really didn't remember it from Lloyd's drawing. But that is only because I had that labotomy I told you about earlier. Sorry Lloyd. I was trying to give Robin all of your credit. Oh well. I am just going to take my orange nose and finish my cheetos. All my love Robin. Mwah!

In recent news, Alvin A. Balajadia designed the original Roth sword! I'm going to be putting that up in my description tout de suite. *lick's your nose* Mmmm, cheese.

          Love,
          Mr. Butmer

Heehee! Not in front of the children, Mr. Butmer. lol That kind of nose licking is for behind closed doors. Wink And what does tout de suite mean? Is it fish? Ponder All my love, Your wife, Switch Butmer
            • Aug 19, 2005, 7:52:23 PM UTC
Nope, no fish. Don't worry, I wouldn't force fish on you, my love, I'd eat them myself! YuM!

Tout de suite means most literally (That I can think of with my rusty French) "All of swift". So basically, "in all haste".
              • Aug 19, 2005, 8:14:42 PM UTC
Oh thank goodness, youwouldn't make me eat fish. I don't like fish. Unless of course they are marinated in Kaluah. Remember? Those are the bestest kinds. and thank you for your translation. I only speak french fry. All my love.
                • Aug 19, 2005, 10:41:56 PM UTC
ANYthing marinated in Kaluah is automatically cooler.

I've never tried speaking to a French fry. is it difficult?

My love right back! Love, your husband, Mr. Butmer.

Oh well French Fry language (otherwise known as "spud"Wink It is a little different than most other languages. You have to put a handful of french fries in your mouth in order to speak it properly. It is rather fun I must say. Love you too. Mrs. Butmer.

I must try this some time... It would be easier if I ate French fries more often.

He looks very proper. Robin, this is dead-on! I just love it! I am so looking forward to this so please go Go GO!

Now, that i've seen this i'm going to have to step up my half of the trade by going further with it. HAHAHAHAHA!!!
    • Aug 18, 2005, 9:21:50 PM UTC
*grin* And now you've given the definite go, so I guess I'll have to do that! Laughing

Oh Minimaid, i've missed yur art so much. I cant wait to see this one finish! I was about to comment on Roth's head size but i see you already know about that. Keep up the great work on this one!!! Mwah Robin!
    • Aug 18, 2005, 9:47:41 AM UTC
Actually, luv, if you read more closely, this is the fix up of his previous head-size mistake. Do you still see a problem? When I measured it things looked fine, but just because measurements are correct doesn't mean that the drawing will look right. Of course - shading might fix it. :S uh oh.

Mwah back! Thanks for the comment, hun. It's good to hear from you - haven't seen you in a while.

lol, oups, well i feel like theres something wrong in the head and shoulders area (feels like a shampoo ad Wink Like you said, maybe its the lack of shading that gives a 'weird' look. I'll be sure to check it out once it is done. Hugs and kisses! Smile

I think what you're seeing is where the hair overlaps the neck - and I agree, it looks odd right now. But I think it will be remedied in the shading. Now Lloyd's given me the go-ahead in that area, I'll be able to find out!
          • Aug 19, 2005, 6:56:26 AM UTC
Yes that's what i came to see also. Im sure it'll look ok once it's shaded! Mwah to you! Grin
