Saronya Commission

Posted Apr 19, 2006, 11:01:23 PM UTC
Woot!  I did it!  This is (I think) the finished version of one of my commissions for a friend in Alberta.  I've been terribly slow getting it done, but I finially cracked down and did it.

*deep breath*  Goodness me am I ever tired.  Time to go create a world or something light.

Laughing Well, she's a far stretch away from the titanic, my friend, seeing as how she's made with far less metal and a lot more sails and ropes. Wink

      I'm glad you like it!

*grin* I know. Wanderlust plagues me wherever I go.

Don't worry, luv. I know you've been over your head with school and such. Besides, I'm behind on my commenting as well, so don't worry a mite about it, ok? *hugs*

*grin* I get bad wanderlust. Unfortunately, I haven't the means to sate it yet... So I just plan with Jon, and think that someday, eventually, we'll get to go somewhere else....

Yes, if I had time, I definitely would be looking through everything, leaving my comment trail. As it is, I get to see almost everything, but I don't have time to leave proper critiques.

          Much love, ducky.

Holy shit! Girl you have some major skills! I am loving this. you have gotten much better in your art I can see it. You and all this marble and wood...I don't even know how you do it. I seriously need my own portable Robin so I can have your help when I need to know how I am going to start off drawing wood like you! This is so awesome very beautiful I am so faving this! Smile Favorite

Aw, thanks! Wood is really really easy. It's just a bunch of near-parallel lines scribbled along the grain. I'm glad you like the drawing, dahling!
      • Apr 23, 2006, 12:00:59 PM UTC
So you just make some parallel lines and then...what? I need to know it is for something I am drawing and I am kinda stuck because of the mean wood! And no problem hun. *huggles*
        • Apr 23, 2006, 12:58:35 PM UTC
well, honestly - I just scribbled lines that went in the same direction as the wood grain. Smile What kind of wood do you need? Just planks? What will they be on?
          • Apr 23, 2006, 2:19:13 PM UTC
Well it is gonna be these French doors and I was shading originally but now I am kinda stuck...and I am not sure what i am gonna do...Sad

Do you have a picture of your work so far that you could send me?
              • Apr 23, 2006, 2:21:47 PM UTC
Yes I do...I haven't scanned much of my art work just because I haven't really had a nice time with my scanner...it doesn't like me anymore...and so I really only have my friends to show. I can try and scan it right now and show you if you would like?
                • Apr 23, 2006, 3:35:53 PM UTC
Sure. I'd be able to help you better if I had some idea of what you were trying to achieve.

Wow this is awesome Robin. Now go rest your hands! They must be in pain.
    • Apr 20, 2006, 11:39:31 AM UTC
Embarrassed Actually, it's just the one finger that's in pain. I think I can get a couple concept sketches for the next painting done today. Wink
      • Apr 21, 2006, 5:22:58 PM UTC
Oh ok well make sure that one finger doesn't over work itself.
  • Apr 20, 2006, 10:17:13 AM UTC
O.O Oh my goodness, lovey... look what you did! It looks so faboolus. Yes Those ropes look so awesome! You can pretty much see all the knot work. Lordy, lordy. And the planks of wood really look like planks of wood. Worship You know you are a Goddess of art, right? Well, if not, now you do. Smile That kid really seems to be enjoying himself(?). I hope it is a boy. Otherwise it is a very unfortunate girl as far as umm, chest structure goes. Smile I just love this drawing hun. It looks like you spent alot of time on it and it is just really pleasant to look at. Plus it brings back alot of memories of the ocean for me. And now I miss it. Cry Love you sweetie. MMMMMMMMMMWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! Man, I am a good kisser. Laughing

Thank you so much, my darling wife!

Yes - I drew in all the rope coils and everthing. I've made a minor adjustment to the picture since I posted yesterday, to fix the perspective of the 'rope ladder', if you will, to the left. You can see the twisting and everything now.

The child is a little girl. She's not supposed to have any chest, since she's only 9 in the picture, but it's GOOD that you thought she was a boy. She's trying to masquerade as one, you see. It makes getting around as a stowaway much easier if you can be accepted as a dockhand.

Much love, darling - and yes - you give excellent kisses! Mwah! *hugs*

Hi Minimaid! It's me, Piglet. I really like this one. You've gone through some pains to get all the shading done and haven't cut any corners. I particularly admire the perspective you've achieved in the boat... something I have always had trouble with. Good job! 3 gold starsSmile StarStarStar
    • Apr 20, 2006, 10:35:22 AM UTC
I very rarely cut corners in commission work. If I try, it always seems to come out all wrong. Thank you so much for your kindness! I'm glad you like my work. Wink

Thank you so much! He was indeed quite thrilled. Just one minor adjustment and it will be ready to send off!

*applauds* Very nice! Worship You did a wonderful job on the shading. I also like the "whoosh" effect. Makes it look very real. Favorite
