Style Quest: Candy Clothes

Chapter 58: Candy Clothes

β€œVarick! Wake up,” Raine shouted as the snow leopard pounced on the sleeping form of her mahogany Clydesdale husband.

β€œWha- what time is it,” Varick drearily asked as he opened his eyes a little. He could just make out the nude form of his partner. The tired tailor couldn’t distinguish what form Raine was in through his blurry vision. β€œIf this is about trying for a kid, can it wait a few more hours?”

β€œNo, this is far more important! The fey moon is upon us! I’ve made you six pots of coffee,” Raine declared as they pulled their equine husband to a sitting position. After rubbing his eyes, Varick saw that the room filled to the walls with what must’ve been a whole candy store’s worth of sweets. β€œYou need to take all of this and make the ceremonial garb of my fey ancestors.”

While Varick started drinking the first pot of coffee, Raine did their best to explain the nonsense they were spouting. Once every five hundred years, a green fey moon rises, and those with the blood of the fair folk need to pay their respects to their ancestor lest they lose their powers. Since Raine’s ancestors were sugar fairies, they needed to dress in clothes made from candy.

β€œOk, I’ll make you something, but pick a form. I don’t think I’ll be able to enchant the candy to change,” Varick said, wanting to respect his partner’s traditions. Raine shifted to a gender-neutral form with modest breasts and no downstairs parts. β€œI have further questions.”

β€œI will attend the fey moon’s rising in the same form I entered the world in. You have nineteen hours since you made me waste and hour explaining this,” the fey snow leopard laughed as they started dumping out boxes of candies.

Varick softly swore but set to work on the second pot of coffee and the sugary clothes. Candy bracelets and necklaces were unstrung and tied back together to make a set of matching bras and panties. With a little bit of his fire magic, Varick slightly melted gummy worms and fused them end to end to wrap around Raine. Dozens of those gummy ropes got stacked together to make a shirt. The equine tailor expertly knitted sour ribbons to make a jacket to wear on the gummy shirt. A skirt of strawberry licorice was the last article fabricated. Carefully braiding the strands together, Varick made a knee-length drape.

Dressed in her sugary clothes, Raine had an extremely tired Varick help them haul the only bit of candy, green mint chocolates, to the park. The snow leopard started dancing and chanting under the eerie gold light of the fey moon. Exhausted from eighteen hours of turning candy into garments, Varick sat on a bench and was immediately out until the following day.

β€œAre you green,” the blonde horse asked as he started to blink awake at the sight of his partner standing before him. Their typically grey fur with blue and green spots was now green with blue spots. β€œLet’s go back to our guild room and wash it out of your fur.”

β€œNo need! It’s permanent now since I ate all that mint chocolate during the ritual,” Raine answered, striking a pose in their mostly eaten candy clothes. β€œHope you still love me green.”

β€œRaine, I love you no matter which form youre in or whatever color you are,” Varick smiled as he kissed his partner and stood up. β€œBut could you shift and carry me back to the guild? My back hurts from sleeping on a bench.”

β€œI got you,” Raine giggled as they shifted to one of their stronger masculine forms to pick up the Clydesdale. Luckily, the fey leopard ate enough of the candy clothes to allow it to stretch enough to maintain modesty.
