Chapter 25

Weeks earlier outside of The Leaf Village…


Kai, Hitori and Kohaku are out on a mission sent out by Gai. All three were out numbered by 12 ninjas from the Rain Village. Kai and Hitori were doing fine battling the others leaving once 12 down to 2 ninjas. Kohaku was the one who took aim at the girl from the hidden village of Rain. The girl was quick and caught Kohaku off guard using the 3 shadow clones beating Kohaku. Kai used up his chakra stayed hidden up in a tree. Hitori fought the guy missing half his face. The guy used a water orb jutsu sealing Hitori inside; Hitori used his other chakra to prevent himself from taking in the water using gills but this will not last for long for him. Kohaku caught the two clones disappearing as she struck both at the same time with her Kunai in each hand. The last cloned disappeared as the real ninja appeared in front of Kohaku giving her a hard blow sending her flying the other side Kohaku turned just in time before allowing her body to slam hard on the tree a few feet away from her. Kai who was up hidden in the tree, the ninja used a shadow clone to attack him. Kai didn’t see or hear it coming as he was knocked unconscious and fell on the ground. Hitori broke free from the water orb and attacked the ninja. The other guy failed to keep his guard up, but Hitori was hit with needles hitting nerves and preventing him form moving. The ninja died from using all of his last chakra. Hitori cursed to himself he couldn’t move not just because of the needles attacking the nerves but the needles are filled with poison. “Kai? Kai!” yelled Hitori not getting a response from his teammate. He looked over to see Kohaku battling with the ninja, he passed out.

Kohaku finally finished off the ninja, breathing heavy she was getting tired and found herself seeing another Ninja from the Rain village standing in front of her. “Crap…where the hell did he come from?” said Kohaku. Just as she prepared herself for another attack, the Ninja grabbed hold of Kohaku and took off in another direction.

Passing through the woods…

Kiba, Naruto and Shino are racing through the woods. “Guys, this isn’t looking good, Akamaru picked up the scent of Kai and Hitori they are not moving.” Said Kiba picking up his speed. Naruto following suit. Shino’s thoughts of Kohaku’s safety bugged him. ** If both of Kohaku’s teammates are down, that means Kohaku is in serious and dangerous position. ** Kiba and Naruto found both of the guys down on the ground. Naruto assisted Hitori first injecting him with anti-poison to rid the poison out of his system. Naruto took Hitori’s limp arm and made a small cut for the poison to drain out & hoping a faster recovery. Kai was only knocked unconscious. “You guys should head back with Kohaku’s teammates…I will go out and make sure that Kohaku isn’t harmed in any way!” said Shino voice was stern. Naruto and Kiba looked at each other in question of why. “Just do as I ask… Gai sensei is a moron to allow a small group after a group of rouge ninjas!” Shino’s voice now in a stronger tone than last. “Uh ok, if you say so Shino.” Said Naruto lying through his teeth. Shino took off. Kiba and Naruto headed back to the Leaf Village.

20 minutes later…

This time both Naruto and Kiba didn’t care to listen to Shino. They did bring back Kohaku’s teammates back to the village, but they headed back this time with a few others. Both Naruto and Kiba had a gut feeling that something serious was going on. Tagging along side with the two are: Neji, Shikamaru, Renee and Jayda. “So, you guys…what do you think is happening here? I mean…is it just me or do I get the feeling that this is some sort of set up?” asked Jayda. “Crap! Shino is heading for a trap!” said Neji using his jutsu. “Dammit… everyone get your weapons ready…Shino is in a shit mess of trouble!” finished off Neji. Everyone prepared & got out their weapons.

Shino looked behind and saw a group coming his way. “Dammit I told you to…What? Why in the hell did you bring them for? I can handle this myself!” yelled Shino. Naruto and Kiba jumping in from above knocking the other dozen ninja’s out of Shino’s way. “Sorry… Change of plans!” said Kiba knocking the half the ninjas out of the way. “Yea, besides… didn’t you say that you are looking for Kohaku? (Shino paused for a moment, and then realized when he needed to do) Stop stalling with these freaks. GO! All of us can take it from here!” said Naruto using his mutli-shadow clones attacking the other Ninjas.

“Pee-eew, dam these ninjas smell like crap, well time to clean up the mess.” Said Renee using her River Jutsu; the force of the water decapitating and slicing bodies everywhere and getting them all washed away. “Nice clean up job…maybe that jutsu can be useful for clearing the crap in Jayda’s room.” Said Neji taunting Jayda. “WTF? Why you…” said Jayda ready to hit Neji but instead took it out on the ninjas using her water whip and making small puddle like areas for the ninjas to fall into. “Drowning Jutsu!” yelled out Jayda. About two dozen ninjas are sent to their deaths. “Uh, man… I can’t do my shadow jutsu; dam clouds are in my way! Oh man what a drag this is going to be!” said Shikamaru. Grabbing onto his weapons and began charging after one ninja, and injuring the other one by one.

Further ahead and away from the group…

Shino used his beetles the male beetles to locate not only where the female beetle was, but also where Kohaku was at. Shino paused stopping dead in his tracks to see a blood trail. He moves on, a few feet away he sees Kohaku’s bag. He grabs it and saw the female beetle on the bag. Now disappointed, he had to fallow where the blood trail was going. Grabbing Kohaku’s bag, he followed the trail of blood, it was starting to show less of a trail now.


Underneath the ground…

  The one Ninja from the Rain Village hid both Kohaku & himself under a man made tunnel; there was very little lighting there. But the Ninja didn’t care about that. His mind was set of other things. Kohaku started to come to when she heard the ninja’s voice. She recognized the voice, she panicked she knew what he did in the past and would do the same to her. The Ninja slapped Kohaku hard across her face forcing a bruised mark on her right cheek. Kohaku landed near by someone’s feet. She looked up to see. She looked familiar, but something told her she was the root of evil and callas. “Lou, are you or are you not planning on raping her?” scolded Xio. Kohaku’s eyes self-adjusted to cat mode, allowing her to fully see the two ninjas yelling at one another. Xio looked familiar, but the man and hearing his name LOU scared her even more including hearing what the other asked to see if he was planning to rape her.

Not having it or allowing anyone to touch her, Kohaku got up to her feet where Xio pinned Kohaku down using the Sand Jutsu.  **What the hell? I thought Gaara and Dawn do this sort of jutsu… just who in the hell is Xio? ** Kohaku’s mind running off. Xio knelt down to Kohaku. “So, this must be the little runt my so-called baby FREAK of a sister if friends with…Dammit Katsumi you don’t take orders well do you?” demanded Xio. “Xio, We did what you asked any more pointless discussion and I will personally sever your organs!” said Kabuto standing next to Katsumi who was fuming at Xio’s comment.

“Just what is the point in all of this crap Xio? Just what is it that you are trying to accomplish?” asked Katsumi looking even more annoyed. “My my, are we still miffed about Orochimaru scored himself a son? Oh I forgot, he did score with you... but uh ended up with a daughter… Hmm too bad.” Said Xio Katsumi fuming even more at her. “Do you mind? I came here for a reason! I never asked you three to be here NOW!” yelled out Lou. “Care to know what REALLY happened to you friend… my FREAK monster of a baby sister?” asked Xio and placed her hand on Kohaku’s temple where she forced images of what Xio knew & witnessed of what happened to Dawn at the beginning where Kabuto cloned himself as Seth, poisoned both Dawn and her unborn baby then (Kankuro & Dawn’s first baby) ending to where Dawn nearly lost her life giving birth to Osiris. Kohaku broke herself free, and slashed out at Xio, but missed as her fierce punch struck Kabuto knocking him down. Xio just stared at Kohaku with a blank expression. “You may be fast… (Xio used her sand jutsu on Kohaku) But never enough to avoid my attacks!” said Xio as the sand whirled Kohaku hard on the wall of the man made tunnel.

“Do what you want, dispose of her after all I’m not one for a so-called caring heart.” Said Xio leaving the area with Katsumi and Kabuto following her behind. Lou was thrilled about not just being alone but what he planned on doing to Kohaku. Just as Lou walked a few feet to Kohaku, A Scarab came out flapping it’s shell and clawed jaws at him. At first this did freak him out. He walked over to step on it, only to see a swarm of them coming out from the wall and now covering the ground & wall surrounding Lou. Shino appeared out of no where. He took off his sunglasses, and looks over at Lou. “It’s nice to know these Scarabs actually exist. You will be their very first kill in over 5,000 years.” Said Shino with a smile on his face. Lou freaked out “WHAT… 5,000 years! Where in the hell did they come from.” Yelled Lou using his jutsu only to see it fail every time he used it. “I received this wonderful gift from a friend. A great friend who has knowledge of history and certain types of bugs. These Scarabs Originated in Egypt.” Lou is surrounded by thousands of them. “Inuseta” was all Shino said… which was an ancient Egyptian language for “Kill him” Shino turned his head away. “Holy crap, Dawn wasn’t kidding about these Scarabs. I better get Kohaku out of here.” Said Shino as he carefully picked up Kohaku into his arms and got out.

Shino now out and Kohaku safely in his arms. He got out his scroll to seal the Scarabs back up into the scroll. A few hand signs and finished with a seal; all of the Scarabs are now sealed back in the scroll. “Man, the next time Dawn and the others go back to Egypt, I have to go along with them.” Said Shino as he placed the scroll into his bag. He began making his way back to the Leaf village.

Along the way, Shino sees the fallen rouge ninjas lying on the field. “Dam, they don’t waist time into battling foes.” Said Shino looking down at the mass of dead & injured Ninjas. Shino passing the gates of the Leaf village and headed back to his place to make sure that Kohaku was all right. Shino walking up the door he spots a note from his father he reads it.

  Shino, I have 3 meetings, and mission assignments that needed to be settled. I will be in Suna for a week. Oh BTW that one girl that gave you that valuable & Sacred Scarab… well her and Kankuro had twins. Last thing… We have a new couch, so one rule…please don’t make out on that.

Shino shrugged and hung his head down. “Oh man, am I ever glad that only I got to be the only one reading this. This would be horribly embarrassing for Kohaku to see this.” Said Shino as he pulled the note tapped on the door crumbled it up and held it in his hand. He opened the door walking inside the house. Shino disguarding the note into the fireplace, and continued down the hallway to his room. He placed Kohaku on his bed. This time he was glad that his room was not in a mess like the last time. Shino left the room mainly to grab a few medical supplies from one room. He returned in his room and began to clean up some of the visible wounds, and cuts Kohaku had in a few areas. Shino saw a deep wound but Kohaku placed a shirt over her top, probably to cover it up. Shino wanted to see just how deep & far the wound of hers was. He couldn’t see much. Cursing to himself in his mind of what he had to do.  **Sorry Kohaku… but…don’t strike at me for doing this ** Shino carefully removed Kohaku’s shirt and tank top. He even used his arm to cover the area of her breasts, mainly for his own good. He felt his cheeks start to redden. Shino’s eyes widen to see the wound was deep and looked really bad. Forgetting about using his arm to shield her breasts… he quickly grabbed some towels and poured some of the medicine on the deep wound.

Shino dipped his head down and tried to focus on what Sakura and Dawn told him to do if his teammates had a serious wound to perform a medical healing jutsu. Shino thought back, and remembering on how to do it. He focused deep inside of Kohaku’s wound all the way down to the nerves. His hand turned green. Shutting his eyes he focused on the healing process. A few moments pass by, Shino opened one eye to see if it worked. Seeing nothing there, the wound gone. He looked more closely with his eyes open. “Oh dam…I actually did it!” said Shino as he took one of his own shirt sitting on the lower dresser and put it on Kohaku to wear. Kohaku began to wake up.

Kohaku looked around, and remembered the room. “Wow… did I just wake up from a nightmare or did those things really happen to me and me teammates? OMG! My teammates…” yelled Kohaku ash she sat up head butting Shino and herself. Both grabbing onto their heads. “Owe!, Dawn…Sorry.. Shino?” asked Kohaku. “Your teammates are ok, and BTW I wish it was a nightmare you woke up from, but it wasn’t everything that happened did happen.” Said Shino.

Kohaku remembered the last moments & conversation she heard, and saw two of the villains that struck fear in her. “Oh Shino, Something…something was being planned. I over heard a conversation about getting things in order, and something about a plot. I dunno what after that. But, these other two… Lou…” said Kohaku. “He’s dead.” Said Shino as he watched a sigh of relief from Kohaku. “But…this girl… no this scary looking woman… I think she’s older than Katsumi.” Said Kohaku. “Katsumi?” asked Shino with a questionable look. “Yes, and Kabuto too. But this one woman that was ordering all of them… her name is Xio (Shino paused, and remembered that name) She’s … out for blood and power!” said Kohaku.

** Shino’s Flash Back **

Back in Konaha 9 years ago…

  The young Sand team was sitting in the waiting room, Naruto stood against the wall looking sad. Kira, Tausha, Danya sitting off the other side of the waiting room. Tausha getting some comfort from her friends, wearing a bandage on her face and a brace on her arm telling herself she would have helped more if her older sister didn’t break her arm. Danya & Kira telling her what happened wasn’t her fault.

Kankuro and Temari talking to one another, while Shino stepped into their conversation. “What happened, and who is this…Xio your are talking about?” he asked. Temari looked away, looking worried. “Our village was attacked again, this time the one person almost accomplished their mission. Trying to kill a girl from our village. The worst part, this one person is blood related.” Said Kankuro holding onto the torn and bloody stained sweater hoodie. “Blood related, who?” asked Shino. Sarutobi walked up to the two young boys. “The One is Xio, who almost completed in killing her own little sister.” Said Sarutobi. Everyone looked up at him and listened. Xio is a S-rank Criminal, and a dangerous one at that. In fact dangerous enough I wouldn’t be surprised if she joined the Akatsuki team. Xio craves for power, and will kill everyone.”

“How… (Naruto lowered his head) how is Gaara and Dawn?” asked Naruto. The others looked to him. “They will need their rest for now, it will be 3 months until they are fully recovered.” Finished Sarutobi as he walks away and heads over to talk to Jason…Dawn’s older Brother. Shino and Kankuro are off the side to listen their conversation. Both are stunned to hear the horrific details.

**End of Shino’s flashback & Past **

“Shino?” asked Kohaku. Shino realized he was in a daze & remembered the past. “Xio…tell me about her.” Asked Shino Kohaku looked worried but continued to describe how she looked, talked, and seemed like a leader to the others around her. “Shino, have you seen this…Xio before?” she asked. “I’ve never seen her, but 9 years ago Suna was attacked… and back then…” before Shino could finish he saw Kohaku grabbing onto her head as if it was hurting her or something. “Kohaku… are you…” before he could finish all he could hear was a muffed cry. He placed he scooted himself more near Kohaku and held her close. Suddenly he got a jolt and a glimpse of what Kohaku was seeing. Everything that Xio burned into her mind was now transferring into Shino. It felt like a blur, but is was painful events taking place of Dawn’s past, her Father dies trying to protect her; her own mother tries to kill her, Age 8 Xio nearly killing Dawn, as Gaara but in saving her but getting seriously hurt. Another showing Kankuro & Dawn expecting their first baby boy; only to see that shattered. Kabuto using a disguised clone as Seth, taking Dawn away from a home… then planting poison into her… soon killing the baby. Loosing the baby Orochimaru takes Dawn to his place… from there on showing the two in horrible & damaging details of what happened then. Shino pulled himself away from Kohaku, breathing hard and shaken a bit. “That sick twisted Piece of Sh*t! OMG! (Shino running his hands through his hair putting his head down) Orochimaru USED Dawn, then…” Shino disgusted in his mind didn’t want to think about it anymore. He looked up removing his hands from his hair looking over at Kohaku. She clung onto him, Shino held onto her. “Xio was right there…the whole time…This is Xio’s Jutsu. Misery Jutsu.” Said Kohaku. “Ok, is it just me, or am the only one getting a headache… and no I don’t mean this is from the head butting.” Asked Shino earning a laugh from Kohaku. “No, I have one too, and yea this wasn’t from the head butting.” Said Kohaku laughing a bit.

Shino tells Kohaku to lie down; he lays down next to her throwing the double-layered comforters over themselves. “Ok, very weird & odd for ONE developing a headache, TWO I feel like I’m freezing my ass off. And THREE I feel drained, but I hardily used my chakra.” Said Shino he looks down to see that Kohaku already fell asleep. Shino cuddles her, but his mind bugged him, everything he saw worried him, and he now understands why Gaara is always near Dawn in the battle, and saw one piece of happiness the only one that he made sure played in his mind more than the other bad stuff. A happy and very innocent moment where Kankuro started to see Dawn… all by Gaara’s thought out plans. Smiling at the happier moment, he too falls asleep.
