A pencil lineart for Adele Sessler's contest. meadowhaven.net/php-bin/textdisp.php

The theme of the picture was to capture Faeren in some stage of his becoming part of the forest. I've kind of slacked off with doing backgrounds before so this one took quite a while to wrap up. Adele is a lovely and talented artist, the contest is well worth looking into with some of her art as a prize. :3

Faeren and the story around him belongs to Adele Sessler.

wow, i love the textures in this piece. I love the raw look of pencils, shows you have nothing to hide. Amazing.

Hey, this is pretty good. I like the deer head coming out of the tree.

I'm working on something for this contest as well -- I opted for snow... which I now know is /the/ most difficult thing to draw ever >.>. seriously. snow sucks.

Anyway, I think Faeren would pop out of the picture more (like that other person mentioned -- sorry, didn't look at their name--) if you shaded the background a bit to make it darker and just left Faeren pretty much like he is. It'd also give the forest behind him more depth ^-^

  Ack! I hope the snow treats you well. It's pretty difficult to draw, even worse to color. (You'd never think something white would be a pain like that)

  I actually just finished it today (in Gym class, ironically), and I think the snow turned out pretty good ^^;. It's by far the best thing I've ever done (in my opinion).

Geez. And here I was, thinking about entering that contest, but everyone has such amazing stuff. *sighfulness*
This is really very good. My only criticism is that if it's not going to be colored, I'd try and find a way of bringing focus to Faeren, and other important parts of the picture. When you have that much detail all over the place, it's hard to focus on the main character without hurting your eyes. But still- very good. I'm officially jealous now. xD

  o.o You should enter it anyway! Everyone's got a good chance in it. ^_^ It's always a lot of fun to see what other people come up with on the same theme.
