Colours of Orange: 5

Well. It looked like everything that could be done with pumpkins had been done, at least by Sahari. Or rather, there wasn't anything left to do anything with, as once again the long leg strolled around looking for something to use. All that was left over were the most misshapen gourds to have ever come out of any farmer's patch, and if they weren't lumpy then they were discoloured or partially rotted or even half-eaten.

Basically, that was it for another year.

If she wanted to do something with pumpkins she'd have to wait.

Or perhaps venture into that great big building that stood at the far end of the field where all the entries were taken to by the helpers so they could be examined and judged.

Hmmm. She could do that. Get a good look at what everyone else made, so she could get ideas for next year.

Yes. That was a good idea, she noted as she trotted along past rows of rejects to take a look at all the other pumpkin creations that were either awaiting judging or had already been judged and were on display for their owners to be either extremely proud of or motivated to do better next time.

Once she got there, it took her several tries to get inside, for the door had a knob, not a latch, and knobs were tricky, especially with such a small beak as tytos had to work with. But she managed to get in, and now that she was, she began strolling up and down looking at all kinds of things, from pumpkin carvings to pumpkin portraits to what could be considered "pumpkin mixed media". There was quite the variety of gourds to look at, and seeing what had already been made with the fruits was giving her some ideas of her own.

Alas, Sahari wasn't able to get very far, when she was spotted, and a couple of people came her way to explain that stryx and other animals weren't allowed inside, and that they'd help her get back outside, since she must obviously be lost, as stryx for example would have no reason to want to be indoors right now. Sahari protested, but the security guards were persisent, and they soon had her back outside again, complaining the whole way.

"Sorry. Not allowed."

It really wasn't fair, especially since she couldn't exactly get them to understand that she was a contestant and should be allowed to see her own work, but there was no point in arguing about it.

But she did see enough, despite it all.

Next year she'd be ready, and next year she'd have something awesome to show.
