Chapter 5: extra: 305 words

Caspian stalked the Vogue Nuisance out of the shadows, leaning his shoulder against a wall - not that he was too hidden. He didn't have a reason to. He wouldn't be hidden too well either way, so it didn't matter.

Besides, in the end, he wanted to be seen.

It didn't take long for the vampire to notice him. The carcass petrified in place. As he should have. He had every reason to be terrified. The eternal saw the vermin flinch, and a smug smile wormed its way across his lips. Caspian straightened himself, and walked to him, the shifter's head higher than usual.

He felt dirty to be so pleased about someone else's turmoil - but on the other hand, this snake deserved every inch of malice that was poured onto his head. Every maggot that nibbled his skin. Every squirrel that took a shortcut through his trousers. The vampire seemed to cower, when the eternal finally halted in front of him. The pale thing looked even shorter than he did a year before.

"No hard feelings?" The vampire squeaked. He held his dainty hands close to his chest, like a terrified mouse in front of a starving house cat. Caspian scoffed with a smile, the whole upper row of his carnivore-like teeth flashing - and then wound up his arm, and slapped the bastard with the back of his hand. He had to hold back to not break the vampire's whole accursed face. What a shame. Would've deserved it.

But at least the edges of his scales were sharp enough to make a few dents.

"No hard feelings," Caspian grinned. The Athos walked off, leaving the walking corpse holding his rent cheek with a grimace on his face.

Always only pick on someone your own size. A larger prey might just be your worst choice yet.
