A White Flower: An Old Acquaintance

Weiss is current at the jail. You might ask what she did to put her in this situation, but she did nothing of that short. In fact, she is not even the one inside the jail. She is just at the front watching someone she knows inside, a tall man wearing a black cape and hat that eats the light itself, Hamel.

 

“What crime did you do this time, Hamel”, she asked with a neutral expression.

 

“Nothing much. Just chasing a little girl.”, he answered cheerfully like he did nothing wrong.

 

“And why are you chasing a little girl?”

 

“I thought she might want to hear the new song I write.”

 

“OK, goodbye.”

 

“Wait Edel chan, aren’t you going to help me get out of here?”

 

There is no remorse or whatsoever on Hamel’s face, but Weiss is already used with it. He is an old acquaintance a very long time ago, but he is also hard to forget with his happy go lucky personality. A face that always smile but if you do not look deep enough, you might overlook all the malice inside.

 

After a few minutes of bribing the guards, Hamel is now out, stretching his arms up to the sky. He thanks Weiss while reputedly poking her cheek.

 

“Do you want to go back inside?”, Weiss asked in a cold voice.

 

“No sir.”, Hamel replied raising both hands.

 

Weiss just sighed in resignation that Hamel will take her seriously. They walk around the town a bit then stopped at a food stand. The smell of grilled meat smells appetizing, it looks a high-quality meat is used. Aside from them, there is also a kid who is waiting for the meat to be cooked. Hamel who is interested with kids immediately noticed and looked. The kid also looked at him.

 

“Ah, it’s the pervert.”, the kid said while looking at Hamel with disgust.

 

“Ah, it’s the reason why I’m put in jail and might be the reason why I return.”, Hamel said nervously while of course still smiling.

 

The little girl has a black bob cut hair and sharp purple eyes. The cloth she wears is an oversized coat not suited for her structure. Her name is Hayano, an adventurer at the area they are currently in.

 

“Don’t get caught twice, I won’t put effort to bail you out for the second time.”, Weis said as he bites a piece of meat she just bought.

 

“How cold Edel chan, and you are already eating without me. Have you bought my share?”, Hamel said as he opens his hands near Weiss face.

 

“Buy your own, I’m not your babysitter.” Weiss replied and moved out of the scene.

 

Hayano bought all the remaining pieces of meat. When she is about to put one in her mouth, Hamel pulled her chin close to his face and asked, “Would you mind giving me some?”

 

The guards who are patrolling saw it and starts running. One of the guard pinned Hamel to the ground while the other one started to tie his hand and said, “You are under arrest for assaulting a minor.”
