Calendar Gurlz - August

Posted Jan 11, 2006, 7:13:19 PM UTC
Woot! Another one down. For some reason, the water didn't come out the way it looks on the original. :( I think it probably has something to do with how my scanner picked it up. >_< Ah well. I think she turned out pretty cute anyway. Enjoy. ^_^

I really like the water here, actually. It looks all wet and glisten-y, just like the ocean should! And I am so borrowing your technique for drawing sand (I can never get it right Tongue).
All the girls in this calendar have their own little personalities, and this one is no different. She seems shy and very sweet.
Teehee, I just noticed the eyes on the starfish and the crab! Too cute! Laughing

Yay! It's August! I love the beach and it looks very cute with those shells and crab.Smile The girl looks great. She looks really relaxed. I think you should have continued the line of the horizon in the background so that it doesn't look that round. Still great job! Grin

Do you mean that line I have for the ocean? Yeah, eheheh...that was because I free-handed the line instead of using a straight-edge. I can fix that really easily though. ^^ I thought that little crab would be the perfect touch for this. The whole "mood" of the picture was getting a bit too tranquil for how I wanted it to be, so I thought the crab and the starfish with the googley eyes would lighten up the mood. Yes And I am glad that it worked. All my love to you. *huggles*

on the beach this is cool , but think it's the wrong swim suit....Smile
    • Jan 13, 2006, 5:34:45 PM UTC
You know what? I think you're right about it being the wrong kind of swimsuit. Wanna know why? Well, because it is a dress and not a swimsuit silly. ^^ But that is okay. It does sort of resemble one of those "old lady" bathing suits, doesn't it? Well, I am glad you like it despite that fact. *huggles*

Thank you sweetheart. ^^ You like the little crab huh? I thought he would be a nice touch. Him and that starfish with the googley eyes. I like how my sand turned out. Though it almost looks like chocolate chip cookie dough. Laughing Doesn't it? Smile Thank you for sticking with me with this calendar. We are almost done. yay! All my love to you. Mwah!

Yaya this is my month!! You did a great job on this hun!! It looks wonderful. For future refrence, the folds seem just dont seem to fit with how gravity would pull down the dress. Other than that, great job!!
    • Jan 13, 2006, 5:37:40 PM UTC
Doh! >_< I know the folds in the dress suck, don't they? I always have a problem with drawing clothes. Really really. I always struggle through it. If you have any helpful hints on this, please please PLEASE help me! I totally suck at that! I am glad that you like it despite that though. I like how the sand turned out. That's always a plus, right? All my love to you hun. Mwah! *huggles*

Haha My dear they do not "suck". Nothing artistic wise "sucks", except for very few exceptions every now and then. (Im not talking about you personally, I am talking about anyone and everyone who draws. Because if there is anything I could say about your art, its that none of it at all "sucks".)

What I try and do, is just picture a real person in that same pose, and imagining how and where the light hits it. Then I imagine how gravity would pull down the dress towards the ground, thinking of the crevices and the small wrinkles. Then I go back to the light and shade in the areas that would be considered to be moe hidden from that light.

Thats pretty much how I do all of my folds and whatnot.

Yay! That's my birthday month! I love this picture for many reasons. The first and most important reason is because it is very well done, the water is gorgeous. The second is becasue she has dark hair, like me LOL. And the third reason is because it reminds me of the summers I spent in a small down in Michigan that was on Lake Michigan. It was a neat little town that seemed to have left society and remained in the fifties. Thank you for making this! I love it and I'm adding it to my favorites so I can look at it and re-live all the wonderful memories it brings back.

Awww, that is so awesome. Thank you so much. And that is exactly the reason why I do art. To have someone tell me that one of my pictures helps them remember a happy moment from their pasts. That is what makes all the hard work worth it. Yes I am so honored to hear you say that. Thank you so much for the fave and for the very kind words. I am glad that I could bring you back to a place in time where everything seemed perfect. it is those memories that remind us that life is worth living. Even despite the hardships. All my love. *huggles*

Very true, very true! I have to admit, I've spent a lot of time gazing at this picture lately. Thank you so much for drawing it!

She's really cute, hun. How I love the beach look there. Great job!!
    • Jan 11, 2006, 4:45:08 PM UTC
Thanks darling. ^^ I wish I was back in Virginia. I went to the beach almost every day. I miss it so much. And being that the month of August is still dreadfully hot, I thought it would be perfect to add some sort of beach scene. And I was going to put some seagulls in there and all, but I absolutely HATE birds, so I decided against it. Birds creep me out. *shudders* Anyways, thank you for your wonderful comments hun. I never thought this calendar would go over so well when I first started it. I am glad that you guys are liking it. That makes all of the hard work waaay worth it. All my love. *huggles*

Yay! And another one done. She's loverly darling. She looks like the shy type to me.
    • Jan 11, 2006, 4:41:38 PM UTC
Hurmmm... you know something? She DOES look like the shy type doesn't she? I wonder if it is because I have completely isolated her on the beach with nobody to keep her company besides that crab and the funky-looking starfish with the googley eyes. Isn't he cute? ^^ I think this one has a really "relaxing" feel to it. The ocean always makes me feel relaxed and calm, so maybe that is it. I am glad that you like it sweetheart. Not too many left to go now. Almost done. Woot! All my love. Mwah! ^_^
      • Jan 11, 2006, 6:54:49 PM UTC
I think it's her expression and her conservative style, actually. Perhaps the hairdo?

I love ocean... Let's go swimming next time I get a week off, ok?
        • Jan 11, 2006, 7:46:39 PM UTC
Oh yes. That sounds wonderful. We will definitely go swimming. And I will bring pretzels. Yes Oh and I must bring glass cleaner to take the sting out of the jelly fish stings. Old trick from my days when I was a young pup living in Virginia. No, I am serious. It really works. Yes And don't worry... if you should happen to get a cramp whilst swimming and start to drown, I would save you. I have formal life-guard training, you know. Wink All my love. Mwah! ^_^

*grin* And I'm a certified scuba diver, so we'd do just loverly. I know a place with a lovely octopus that we could visit!
