I was suppose to post this for minimaid last week but I never got the chance. Well here's what I have so far. I'm currently working on the large pillar in the background and also the stairs.

Holy shit. Oh, uh... Don't Talk Wow. This is coming out great. You are the king! Worship Especially when it comes to shading. This is coming out magnificently! I don't think I spelled that right! Laughing The weaving pattern in the background is awesome. That would have driven me bonkers.

Pooky brought up a good question. How long DO you spend on pictures? What?
    • Jun 4, 2006, 10:35:54 PM UTC
Thank you for the compliment on my shading. That pattern on the background pillar realy took its toll on me and I think it'll be awhile before I do something like that again.

As for the time? Well 80 to 200 hours seems about right. It all depends on the details.
      • Jun 5, 2006, 5:18:54 PM UTC
JEEZ. O.O I mean...wow. I hardly spend that much time breathing! Laughing I hope you don't do all this work at once! You'll burn out! Hug
        • Jun 5, 2006, 9:22:53 PM UTC
Oh rest assured that I never do it all at once. That I think would drive me to stop drawing altogether but I do sometimes go at it for about 14 to 20 hours sometimes.
  • Jun 3, 2006, 12:04:00 PM UTC
Woah, this is looking really awesome! As always the shading is wonderful, and I really love that weaving pattern of lines in the background. Its so intricate, I would have gone crazy doing that...it looks really neat. I can't wait to see this finished, great job Big Smile

Thanks. Oh and just for the record, the weaving pattern did make me go bonkers after the first few lacings.

Holy geez, luv! That design on the pillar is perfect! I'm going to have some time recreating the interior architecture for these guys after this is done. Laughing You're the bestest, buddy. *hugs*

Thanks Robin, I was realy trying to put some intricacy and ornateness in the pic but I had to do this without making myself feel like I was drawing more of the background than the figure. I also needed something with a bit of repatitive design that looked like it wasn't repetative. Did that make any sense?
      • Jun 8, 2006, 1:18:06 PM UTC
Wink Yes, it did. Took me minute, what with my overloaded brain, but it made sense. You're doing such an awesome job of this, luv. I hope you're not pushing yourself too hard on it. Smile
  • Jun 3, 2006, 7:20:47 AM UTC
Wow, this is definately coming out amazing. I really, really love his belt. And apparently someone knows how to use light and shadow.
How long do you spend on pictures!? O.O
    • Jun 4, 2006, 10:23:06 PM UTC
Thanks, I spend anywhere between 80 to 200 hundred hours i'm guessing on a single pic. It all depends on how much detail i'm trying to put on the pic.
      • Jun 5, 2006, 1:09:44 PM UTC
Dude, I actually believe you. O.O I've done one medieval-ish picture in mah life time and believe, I don't think I will ever, EVER do it again. It basically takes over your life... Wacko
  • Jun 2, 2006, 10:25:28 PM UTC
Your artwork is so awesome Dennis ^^ You don't do commissions do you?
    • Jun 2, 2006, 11:05:47 PM UTC
Hi! Thank you for the lovely comment. In answer to your query, yes I have been doing commisions for the past year and a half now.

      Again thank you.
      • Jun 2, 2006, 11:17:27 PM UTC
... I ment what do you charge?
        • Jun 3, 2006, 11:48:34 AM UTC
I charge on a case by case basis when it comes to private commisions depending on how much detail and how complicated the piece is and also on the deadline. Otherwise the gaming companies I usuall draw for pay anywhere from 150 to $550 dollars for a piece.
          • Jun 4, 2006, 4:40:09 AM UTC
Wow- American currency I assume? I'd love to get a simple $20 for a commission at the moment ^^; I'd make me feel special :3 Good on you though Smile
            • Jun 4, 2006, 10:18:49 PM UTC
Believe me it came as a shock to me when I got my first offer amount on a commision from a gaming company. I still feel somewhat taken aback when I get a commsion.
              • Jun 5, 2006, 1:44:31 AM UTC
I bet Smile Do you do pencil drawings for them? Or something else? Smile
                • Jun 5, 2006, 7:40:26 PM UTC
Strictly graphite or charcoal art although they do keep asking for ink and color.
                  • Jun 5, 2006, 8:27:21 PM UTC
*evillaugh* They're a pain, huh? ^^ Like my comic writers- always getting me to do stuff I don't normally do *rants at air*
                    • Jun 5, 2006, 9:27:08 PM UTC
You my friend hit it right on the nose on that one. I had one client actualy ask me to do a full blown oil painting after I mentioned that I dabbled with oils at one time.
                      • Jun 5, 2006, 10:40:38 PM UTC
*dies* NO FRIGGIN WAY. Oils is NOT something you buy when the person doesn't know how to use them properly yet. They are sooooo difficult to get the colours right!!! Oil anything makes me go nuts.

Curious- what does a $150 commish buy you?

Look through my gallery and check out my Scal Mail piece. Also the size of the piece is a factor.
