Chapter 6: Let Us Go Yoda Together

"Did you see Etain today?"
"Went to see her before I went to see Spellfire."
"Do you not mean after?" Christabel teased.
Macallister shook his head, "No, before. She sends her love."
Christabel leaned on her window, after another day of confinement. After being banned from their sister's room, Macallister and Huxford had made it a habit of striking up conversation with her from her bedroom window. And Christabel had made it a habit to be "punished."
"So what did you do this time?"
"I accidentally burned my embroidery on the fire. I told her not to teach me near open flame, but they never listen." Christabel giggled, "They are so persistent. I keep insisting I do not need the training, but no one listens to a Lady. Do you know what she told me today?"
"No, what did she tell you today?"
"That I was not a Lady!" Christabel laughed, "In reply, I asked if I could resume seeing my brothers in my quarters alone in my quarters, since I was no longer a lady."
"What am I missing?" Huxford ran up, puffing, his clothes muddied.
Christabel and Macallister regarded him with minor surprise. Christabel spoke first, "Huxford!" she stated disdainfully, "What have you been doing? Father will be cross with the mud."
Huxford blushed, and took to studying the ground. "Well...um...there was this..."
Macallister rescued him, "Christabel, go on with your story. Huxford can wait."
"Oh, right. Well, for Huxford's sake, I will summarize it. My instructor said I wasn't a Lady, and I said..."
"Lady Christabel!"
"Ooh..." Christabel moaned in frustration, "I will see you two at supper." Huxford and Macallister had already left.
"Lady Christabel! You must stop conversing with your brothers when you are being punished! You will become a proper Lady in three weeks, and you must be ready. Now, sit and let me have a good look at you. Your father has set up a wonderful supper for the castle; the King of Uptum has arrived, and we want you on your best behavior. And your best looks." she added with an ever so slight glint.
Christabel sighed, flopping herself onto a chair and straightening her skirt just-so. The woman nodded in approval.
"Very good, very good. Now, we must find the perfect gown...Merry! Merry, girl, get in here and start thinking of Lady Christabel's hair. She must look perfect this evening!"
