For Love of a Child: Courtship

“So let me get this straight, you told Vincent and my sister you were seeing a young man but you didn’t want them to know who…” Angelina eyed her in the carriage. Fawks nodded sheepishly. “My brother most definitely would not approve and neither would sister Frances. I don’t want either of them to try at his life and I know for a fact Frances would!”

“…That’s one scary family you come from…” Angelina smiled nervously.

Sessho-maru was waiting out in the courtyard as the carriage pulled up.

“I’m glad you could come” he smiled helping Fawks down from the carriage.

“Oh, my sister-in-law, Angelina will be chaperoning…” she blushed, tucking a strand of auburn hair behind her ear.

“Madame” Sessho-maru began, helping her down as well, “I assure you I have only the purest intentions towards your sister-in-law”

“Mm hm…” Angelina gave him a look. “…well, as long as those ‘pure intentions’ don’t get Fawkeisha pregnant, I supposed it’s fine…”

“Angelina!” Fawks blushed.

 

Fawks hummed softly as she stitched a hole in one of Ciel’s favorite toys.

“My, you seem to be in good spirits lately” Rachel smiled.

“Eh? Do I?” Fawks blushed.

“It must be because of her new young man…” Angelina remarked, taking a sip of tea. Fawks nearly pricked herself, “…I’m…sure it’s not that…!”

“You should see them together, Rachel! Cuddling like a couple lovebirds!” Angelina laughed.

“…W…we don’t cuddle…!” Fawks cried.

“Come on! The only time he doesn’t have his arms around you is when you’re playing Chess. And even then, he gazes at you with such raw passion, it makes me uncomfortable to be in the same room” Angelina gave her a look. Fawks turned several shades of scarlet.

“I say, when will we get to meet this fellow?” Lord Phantomhive began.

“Why, so you and sister Frances can scare him away?” Fawks sniffed.

“We would not!”

“I don’t like him, auntie, because of him, you don’t play with me and Lizzie as much anymore…” Ciel pouted from where he sat on the floor playing with a train set.

“Ciel…” Fawks began.

“It’s something you must get used to, Ciel. Once Fawkeisha marries she won’t even be living with us anymore” Rachel began.

“Then I don’t want auntie to ever get married! I want her to stay with us forever and ever!” Ciel whimpered clutching her dress.

“It seems you spoiled him too much, sister” Lord Phantomhive chuckled.

“Honestly, the men of this family are utterly impossible…” she sighed.

 

Sessho-maru opened his eyes to Fawks’ smiling face.

“Are you awake?” she whispered, brushing his bangs out of his face.

“What happened?” He sat up rubbing his eyes.

“You fell asleep during our picnic and Angelina was nice enough to leave us alone for a change…” Fawks pouted.

“Forgive me, koi…” he smiled caressing her cheek.

“You seem tired as of late…was it wrong of me to come see you?”

“Indeed not! I desire your company now more then ever. It seems my mother has caught wind of my return to England…she forces Kagura on me every chance she gets…” he growled in annoyance.

“Kagura?” Fawks blinked.

“The fiancée she has chosen for me…” he spat. She looked away.

“…Maybe you should marry her…she’s waited so long to be with you after all…”

Sessho-maru caught her chin, tilting her gaze back to his.

“I’m not letting you get away that easily” he smirked, leaning gratefully into her lips. Fawks whimpered as he parted her lips with his skilled tongue.

“Sessh-kun!” she cried pushing him back. “…You shouldn’t kiss me like that…we aren’t even married!”

“You didn’t seem to mind while we were under the same roof. You let me kiss you any way I wanted and more…” he growled in her ear. Fawks shivered reflexively, “Th…that was then…!”

“Hey! That’s enough you two! Anymore and I’d be in trouble with your brother and sister” Angelina called as she approached the two.

“Madame…” Sessho-maru seemed less then pleased.

“Besides, there’s some angry Japanese woman screaming back at the mansion…” she said, throwing a thumb in the direction of the house.

“Eh?!”
