Chapter 5: Boss Battle - Breathing Issues

3. Freeze! It takes seconds to realize that the portal has closed behind you. It takes another moment to realize you can’t breathe. Draw or write your character struggling for air as the water closes in around them.

When Rathyn and Virvalur suddenly found themselves underwater after someone pulled them through a portal, the Draconic Elf turned around just to see their way of return closing. With a frown and puffy cheeks filled with air he reached for the spot but nothing appeared again, nothing happened to his body, they were trapped in place.

In the meanwhile Virvalur began to panic, not being able to breathe and no surface in sight caused him to lose his rational thinking for the time being so it was on Rathyn to get them both back to the surface safely.

He could feel some panic well up within him, too, but he had a solution at hand. He wasn’t scared of dying, it was more about the way how he’d die and drowning always sounded rather unpleasant to him. Some bubbles found their way out of his mouth and he slowly became a bit dizzy while fumbling for his special bag which was attached to his belt.

He took out two small vials and lead one of them close to his mouth before he removed the cork with his teeth and enclosed his lips around the opening to not waste any liquid merging with the water. It only took like two seconds until he let out a sigh and was able to breathe again.

Virvalur who watched him do this while panicking also got a vial held in his direction. At first he didn’t know what to do and looked back and forth between Rathyn and the vial but in the end he copied what he saw, uncorked it and tried his best to drink even though it felt weird under water. Rathyn could clearly see him choke, a hand was pressed against Virvalur’s throat but once the male realized that he was able to breathe again, he calmed down.

They botht didn’t waste any time and made their way to the surface, away from this madness. That was enough water for one day.
