Inuyasha

Inuyasha! This is my first Inuyasha pic. I have very mixed feelings about this. The original isn't nearly as good as this version (used a program called pastel in Paint Shop Pro 7), and I feel like I totally destroyed the image. The drawing was beautiful, and then I had to go and color it! :cries: Oh, well. I believe this version looks much better, and aides in the emotion. Tell me what you think!
Inuyasha isn't mine, and a reference pic was used to draw this :D

Yay! This really catches the feel of the manga. ^ ^ It reminds me of those edo paintings- (japanese ink prints that have been colored), exept the texture looks soft...

Did I miss this one too? I'm so sorry, you must think I'm awful! I don't know how I keep missing these! Again, thank you so much for the comments, they always mean so much!

Well I think that drawing of Inuyasha is really great, I love the atmosphere that surrounds him.

Thanks! I think I've finally come to terms with this...It's taken a while though. And you know what's so neat? The 'earthy' tones most everyone has commented on about this were a result of the grey effect from my scanner. They simple turned into this color when I applied the pastel effect. ROFL

Whao, that is incredible, in any case the effect is superb!

    You colored that using PSP?

Amazing--I have that program myself, and I know how much of a pain in the ass that can be to work with.

Spectacular job; while I don't like InuYasha, I can appriciate good fanart when I see it :p

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much! I colored this with colored pencil, then went back into PSP 7 and used an effect called collage. Guess I can't claim total credit for coloring it on PSP...Embarrassed Oh well. Thanks again!

No matter how you colored it, the fact of the matter is, it's colored :p

And it looks great, really. I'm totally digging this style.

I actually quite like the warm colours you've used in the image. The reds are especially striking. I know nothing about Inuyasha, but this certainly -looks- beautiful! Smile

Thank you! I've had a lot of time to warm up to this picture, and I think I finally have. I'm liking it better every time I look at it. Laughing

It has that seductive look of parchment, too. I wish I had proper parchment, or perhaps vellum on which to work... Alas, I'm broke.

I really like this! The tones you added in the paint shop thing are very cool. I read your description and here's a tip to avoid screwing your drawing up. I scan my pencil work then I print out the image exactly how it looks in pencil...then I color the printed scan so that I always have a back-up copy (in case I screw up, which happens) and I will also have the original pencil drawing forever as well. Hope that helps! Great job! Smile

Thanks for the tips! This image was a beast to scan. I originally scanned it as the penciled drawing, but every time I scanned it, it came out wrong. That should have been my first clue. Wink Oh well. I'm really starting to enjoy this picture, it's growing on me. And thanks for the feedback!

Oh, this is absolutely rich and beautiful; you have nothing to be worried about! Wink

Thanks. I don't know why I'm having such a tough time with this one, but I'm so glad others are enjoying it! Wacko

Coulda fooled me; it looks wonderful! I'm glad you posted it; sometimes the responses can be very heartening ^_^

Oh, Karana, you know I love this picture! ^_^ I love the pastel effect. It's something completely new and different. I love the "earthy" tones of the back ground around him. It makes him stand out. For your first Inuyasha drawing, it is spectacular! On to your next Inuyasha drawing...

I knew I'd have at least one happy fan in you. Wink As much as I feel like I messed this up, I did enjoy drawing it very much. The animators for Inuyasha have such a strange style; much different than that of DBZ's. I do plan on doing more Inuyasha, I'll just think twice from now on about using colored pencils. Annoyed

Well, whichever way you decide to go, you ought to be very proud. We wouldn't get anywhere with our art if we didn't take chances, would we? You took a chance on this pic, and it definately paid off. I'm not just saying that either. I really like the color sceme you used on this. It gives him a fresh new look. We are ALWAYS our own worst critics.
I agree that the VIZ animators do have a strange (but awesome) way of animating. I have almost given up on a few pictures that I did because I couldn't get Inuyasha's damn jaw line right! It is so squared and the angles are so sharp and it really is hard to get it down to where it looks halfway decent. But, obviously I didn't give up. I wasn't about to let no dang jaw line get the best of me! lol I am proud of you for trying something different. I honestly like the effect. Keep up the good work.
